Cabela's Spirex/Cabela's Tourney Trail Spinning Combo -
Pair the Shimano Spirex reel with a 100% IM7 graphite Tourney Trail rod for a powerful combo.
The lightweight Spirex has a slimmed-down aluminum frame for superior strength and great castability. The smooth double-paddle handle makes for quick retrieves, and the Fluidrive® II gearing offers extra smoothness and increased sensitivity. The Power Roller® reduces line twist from repeated casts and retrieves, while the DynaBalance® rotor eliminates any spinning wobble by counter-balancing the rotor for smooth rotation. The reel boasts the Quick Fire® II bail for fast and easy one-handed casts. A-RB® (Anti-Rust Bearings) are made of stainless steel that has been fortified with the A-RB® process, making them at least 10 times more corrosion- resistant than standard stainless steel ball bearings. The easy maintenance-shielded bearing design allows for easy flushing of debris and lighter viscosity lubrication to reduce friction and allow the bearing to spin faster and smoother.
Our Tourney Trail series rods are one of Cabela’s best sellers. We’ve completely redesigned them to give customers a more sensitive-feeling rod for their money. We introduced small, yet strong, aluminum-oxide guides that are perfectly sized and wrapped to the new steel-blue blank in a seamless bond. Heavy-duty graphite reel seats with padded hoods to secure your reel. A screw-down locking fore grip was added to eliminate exposed threads when the reel is snugged. We also added higher-quality cork handles to make casting more comfortable. All Tourney Trail rods are built around IM7 100% graphite blanks that have fast tip-sensitive actions.

ML 7ft with Spirex 2500

I bought this combo for fishing for trout on a wide river. With 6 lb test Berkley crystal line, I can cast about 60 yards with just a 1/4 oz weight (paced it off). Other fishermen are in awe of these casts, and I can reach the pools that others can't get to except with a boat or tube. The reel is incredibly smooth and the rod action is outstanding. I also have a Fish Eagle II and Sahara combo, and this is every bit it's equal, and at a lower price. The quick-cast trigger takes a little getting used to but is a great feature. My favorite trout getter.

Great Value, Easy to Use

I have four of these combos with no complaints. I love one-hand casting with the Spirex Quick Fire. The arguments against the anti-reverse don't hold water. My hand is always on the handle, so when I set the hook, I SET the hook. When I get a tail-strike, the Quick Fire lets me get a rebound cast in a flash. The rods are rated correctly for my tastes. An ultralight rod would be a nice offering in this combo. After a season of fishing, the reels are still smooth (do your maintenance!). and no broken rods or worn out grips.

Nice rod

Would have earned a five but the reel was a little "heavy" the balance is good, rod is great, nice action and good feel. Reel is just to big for the combo

Great Reel, Weak Rod

I bought this combo in the spring. First cast, 3lb bass. 2nd time out, the tip broke off at 2nd eye when I was unhooking my lure. Took it back on my "Cabela's run" this weekend. No reciept, no questions, GREAT SERVICE! Walked out with a new rod. First cast another 3lb bass! ..............however the rod broke between the third and fourth eye?!?!!? I love Cabela's (store and products) but the 7' Medium IM7 2 piece rod (TTS407-2) seems to be very lucky, but very weak. That being said, I love the Spirex reel, I can cast a country mile with that reel and retrive quickly.
