great device, you just need to understand it

I absolutely am in love with this whip finisher. I learned to whip finish with the traditional whip finisher and always found myself breaking thread, i used this one and learned that once you have enough wraps, it works just like the others, except there is no massive tension on the thread. the arm gives a little bit so you aren't stressing the thread too much. Awesome whip finisher and I wouldn't hesitate one second to recommend this one to anyone.

Whip finisher has a learning curve

I bout the whip finisher for tying larger fly’s that the half hitch tool was too small to fit the hook eye. The Thompson style whip finisher has a definite learning curve, look for a good book or video to learn.

Whip finisher

After watching a few videos online (eg - YouTube), this tool is easy to use. Helps speed up the jig making process.

Negative Reviews:

Poor whip finisher

This whip finisher has a week arm and the the metal will just bend when you put to much pressure on it. Also the thread will just slip off the finisher and you have to start the tie off all over again. Would not recommend this thing to any one.
