Good low cost gambrel

Ok, if I had to buy it again I'd spend the extra $10 and get the 4:1 rather than this 2:1 hoist/pulley system. Nailed a cow elk, which tipped the scales at just 350lb, so she was no, uh cow. Wait, what ? Anyway, trying to hoist her by myself was impossible until my good neighbor Jack stopped by. And it was still a struggle. The gambrel worked exactly as advertised...but my muscles didn't. Once she was up the cape came off without the gambrel twisting like a tornado or dropping the cow. Get good hardware for linking it to your garage, et al ceiling. Clevis pin and two 3/4" eye bolts made is a snap.

Standard locking device

I am a retired Marine not smarter than the average person but this was very easy and simple to use. I used it to hang my feeder and have another to hang my deer. Great product.

Not so good

Mine came with instructions. I did not have any trouble hoisting the deer up. Getting it to stay up was another story. The lock would slip regardless of what we did to lock it. Finally had to tie it off on a snowmobile to get it to hold a deer through the skinning process
