Good value in a reflex sight!

The Cabela's Tactical Reflex Sight has some nice features. I own several reflex sights,a C-more, Burris Fastfire2, and a Leupold Deltapoint. This sight is a good value in that it does have automatic on and off and auto brightness. It does seem to me that the brightness is a little too bright at times and can be remedied by putting a small piece of masking tape over the sensor. I also think it is strange that there is no way to lock in the windage and elevation adjustments as is done with all my other sights. Time will tell if it will hold its zero without the lock down screws that all my other reflex sights employ.
The sight has worked very well so far and it is great not having to wonder if it is turned on or not when you look through it. I use reflex sights when teaching new shooters because it helps them to almost instantly have some success with a handgun and makes it more fun if they can hit what they are aiming at. The reflex sight makes that part easier, when they can find the dot! The auto on is a great feature because I know when I hand them the weapon it is on.
The mounting system could be a bit beefier as well and definitely requires some Loctite or the sight will loosen quickly.
All in all, a pretty decent sight, clear sight picture, no bluish tint like the new Weaver reflex sight.
I currently have this sight on a Ruger mk3 .22 pistol.
Put one on, you will like it.

Why would you pay more?

Basically, it is a knock off of the Burris Fastfire 2. But for a lot less. I have no complaints. It works very well. The price is very good. For heaven's sake if you don't like it, Cabela's will take it back and you apply the money to something twice or three times the price.

Negative Reviews:

Difficult adjustment

I purchased this sight as companion to Cabelas' prism reflex sight. On the rail it is designed to be mounted on I found that elevation adjustment did not have enough range to zero at 30 yds. That distance is common for our CQB 3 gun stages. Shortest distance I could zero was about 80 yds. Perhaps on a 45 degree mount mounted directly to top rail it would zero better. The Prism Reflex sight is great, however.

Not very tactical

This is not a bad little sight - except for the fact that there is no on-off button. This is a good site for target shooting, but having to remove the plastic cover to use it makes it somewhat useless from a tactical standpoint. For your kids 22 rifle or pistol? Sure... For your AR or service weapon absolutely not.
