A hardened, high-carbon steel head makes this Tomahawk a great camp tool as well as a handsome rendezvous accessory. The handle is 19" straight-grained hickory for great heft and balance during target practice sessions or serious competition.
Cabela's hits the nail right on the head with this one. You get exactly what you see here. The best throwing tomahawk for your money. You can sharpen it easy, but it will stick into a block of wood right out of the box. Steel is nearly impossible to mess up and if you break the handle they are relatively inexpensive. I would recommend this tomahawk to everyone. I no professional just a regular working guy who hunts and fishes as much as I can.
I purchased 4 of these for a scout camping trip. We set up a range and the scouts practiced and competed with each other for hours. there were 15 scouts and 4 adults and the hawks worked well for all. I plan to buy the mouse hawks for our smaller scouts as they look like it would improve their early success.
I bought these tomahawks just to throw around. I got two mouse hawks and this one. This isn't worth it. The head is poorly made and heavy, as well as the handle. There are better tomahawks out there in the same price range. Keep looking. The only thing these are good for are whipping around for fun. Not very well balanced in my opinion.
I bought three of these tomahawks for throwing. I am a regular tomahawk thrower and already had some others. If you buy these, be prepared that between the blade and the handle it can take you 1-2 hours to shape one of these properly in order to use it for throwing. From the package, the blades come unnecessarily dull and the cutting edge profile is very blunt. You will need to do some significant grinding on the blade to get these to stick in wood regularly. The handles are fairly cheap, but not bad. However, you must be careful in shaping these so that you don't undersize them. This process is time consuming, but it's not that hard. Overall, I wish I would have spent another $20 for a better tomahawk. I won't buy these again because of how much work goes into them.
