Cabela's Tqr/Prestige Plus Fly Combo -
Save by matching your TQR rod with a Cabela's Prestige Plus reel. Combos come with Prestige Plus weight-forward floating fly line (a $39.99 value) and backing.
Packing plenty of power into shorter length, the Tight Quarters Rods (TQR) excel in all those places where longer rods can be overkill. Now you can challenge those streams and creeks choked with heavy cover and find new fish-catching opportunities. The TQR's precision will be put to good use when the difference between hooking a fish and snagging a limb is a matter of inches. Although shorter, each rod has the backbone to turn a hard-charging fish and is still limber enough to protect fine tippets. These advantages are critical and not something you will find in most shorter rods. The moderate-fast action is forgiving with a reserve of extra power when you need it. Cork reel seats and single-foot guides increase weight reduction. Two nuts on the reel seat lock the reel securely in place. Includes rod tube.
We took the value-packed performance of our popular Prestige series and stepped everything up a notch with the Prestige Plus. A new disc-drag system sports a cork drag washer and adjusts to a wider range of settings. The cast-aluminum frame has an unmatched strength-to-weight ratio, and the new mid-arbor design yields plenty of backing capacity for battling long-running fish. The molded, paddle-style handle and large drag-adjustment knob round out the features on this exceptional reel at an amazingly low price.
Reel color: Black.

Cabela's Tqr/Prestige Plus Fly Combo Reviews:

Good value at a good price

I purchased two of the 7 foot, two weight prestige combos. One to replace a very well used stowaway 3wt for myself and one for my 7 year old son. I would say that the setups are well built with average quality components. I am always leery of single foot guides on a rod, and will not use them when building my own rods. The reel seat is cork?? I have not seen this before, and may replace it with something else. But as far as casting, I was able to use it from the middle of the Animas river and hit both banks with line to spare. My son who is a neophyte to fly fishing picked up the cast with about ten minutes of instructions and was then making good casts of about twenty-five feet with ease. It is a good rod for smaller hands and this combo is well balanced. Unfortunately, no fish on that outing, so no review on fighting power of the rod yet. If this rod lives up to the Cabela's standard, I have no doubt that I will be able to use it for many seasons to come.

7ft 2wt great craftsmanship!

first i'm only giving a 4 star because i have yet to try this rod out.
first thing that i loved about this combo was how well cabelas shipped the rod. the rod was in its soft case, inside its hard case, and then in a cardboard tube with foam around it to hold it still and protect it.
the second thing i liked was the look of the rod. all of the eyes are straight, the cork handle feels firm and durable, and the reel screws feel strong.
3rd. with the prestige plus reel the rod is perfectly balanced. if you place one finger under the narrowing of the handle just above the reel it will balance perfectly all day. the only thing i would recommend is switching to a 3wt fly line. after reading numerous reviews online it seems this rod handles short and far casts a lot better with the 3wt instead of 2wt line

Great for a beginner!

I bought this set-up(7'6" 5-weight) for a 2 week fly fishing trip in Colorado. I'm new to fly fishing, but knew that I would be fishing in a lot of tight areas. This rig is great and I caught a lot of fish and landed a nice 16 inch Rainbow.

Great Purchase

Excellent rod for small stream trout fishing in Western Nebraska. I did purchase the combo and will say that the reel is a little heavy for the rod, but still works well. More than worth the money.
