The Super Tent

We were going on a scouting and hunting trip in the mountains in western Colorado and we wanted a good, lightweight, easy to pack tent. We also do annual trips to Canada that involve portages, so weight is very important to us. This tent is awesome. We call it "The Super Tent". 1) It is super easy to put up. You do it once reading the instructions and you are a pro after that. You could probably figure it out without even looking at the instructions. We had to put it up once in the rain and once in the dark and we were able to do both quickly and easily. The color coded corners and pole clips are a lifesaver in those situations. The instructions are on a piece of canvas sewn into the tent bag so you can't lose them. Genius! 2) It is spacious! We had our full sized air mattress, two gear bags and still plenty of room to move. It would probably be crowded with 4 adults, but for 2 adults, maybe 3 adults or 2 adults and a child or 2, it would be adequate. It also has two vestibules, which are great for gear storage and shoes. Your stuff stays out of the elements without having to be hauled into the tent. When you come back after a hike with muddy, dirty boots, this is truly appreciated. 3) It is STURDY. We encountered heavy rains and high winds (as in a live tree came crashing down just feet away from our camp site) and the tent held strong through it. No leaks, nothing came loose, nothing flopping around. We didn't even have the rainfly staked out with the extra guy lines and it was still solid as a rock. Although, if you know there will be high winds, maybe those guy lines wouldn't be a bad idea. Better safe, right? 4) It is very versatile. The first couple nights of our trip were very hot. The rainfly has vents on top which let more fresh air in and you can loosen the fly up for better airflow. We were very comfortable. If we had been certain it would not rain, we would have left the fly off, but we saw a system coming our way. It's great to know you can be protected from the elements while still having great ventilation. A few nights later, it cooled off drastically. The rainfly can be tightened down to help keep the chill out and the top vents close up. We were quite cozy. 5) There are pockets in each corner. Never scrounge around looking for your glasses, keys, small flashlight, binoculars, Leatherman or other small items again! 6) It is very lightweight and packs wonderfully. It's a snap to take down and bundle up. The stakes have their own little pocket in the main bag. This helps keep them from getting lost while keeping them from being able to rip the tent. The poles also have their own pouch. We love this tent and we're looking forward to many more adventures with it. We are more than pleased with our purchase so far!

Great Tent

I used this tent for a week on a very remote lake in Ontario. In that week I experienced warm days, torrential rain storms and a few very cold nights. This tent was great for all conditions. I love the options to let air flow through on warm days and the full rain fly to keep water out. The two vestibules are great to keep shoes dry without bringing them inside the tent. Very easy to set up and take down. I bought the 4-person tent and its has lots of floor space and head room. Relatively light as well considering the overall size.

Very good design!

This is actually a variant of the Vortex made by that K company which has such a super history in camping gear.
Ive used them for years in my outfitting gear and have several sizes along with this Cabela's version. All perform amazingly well, they breathe the moisture out to keep the inner walls dry and they handle rain and wind like a brick house. You simply can't beat these for this configuration and use....Happy Camping and thanks Cabelas for making them available!!!! Picture is from the tent looing out at Big crow lake in Algonquin Provincial park in Ontario

Best tent I've owned

Just finished a week long elk hunting trip, with high winds, cold nights, pouring rain and five hail storms, all of which this tent survived no problem. Stayed completely dry, no leaks and even survived dime sized hail with no problem. Quality construction, very sturdy aluminum poles, sets up easy, great stitching. Would buy this tent again in a heart beat. Owned several tents through the years, none can hold a candle to this one. Worth every penny.
