Cabela's Whuppin' Stick Crappie Rod -
Over the past 10 years, Whuppin’ Stick rods have become a customer favorite for their nearly indestructible, advanced polymer fiberglass blanks. Back when we first introduced these rods, we knew they would make a splash, but we had no idea they’d create such a tidal wave. For the 10th anniversary, we’ve updated the series with a sleek new look. These crappie rods have EVA grips with graphite slip rings and black guides with ceramic inserts.

7-8 years of good service

I have owned this rod 7-8 years, 9 ft - two piece.
I have used it off and on, not as my regular rod, only when going crappie fishing or jigging.
During the last 60 days I begin using it a lot while fishing with minnows for crappie. My buddy and I have 4 rods out & noticed we caught many more fish on this rod than others, 4 fishing trips in 60 days while the fish were hitting hard. Then my buddy lands a 7.5 bass on this rod, and lands 9 additional bass in the slot limit 14-16 in. same day, which we released all weighing 3-5 lbs. The rod was in the rod holder most of the time. Which tells me this rod sets the hook by itself, because my fishing buddy is not that good of a fisherman. He's in training! You can not break this rod with 50 lb. braid line those bass were bending that rod more than double in all kinds of brush. My buddy pulling like he was on a deep sea fishing boat, still in training! However, the rod holder is not much good, as the other reviewers said , strong gray tape has lasted 8 years, and still going! You may want to look at the newer whippin stick with the cork rod holder.

awesome rod

I have mine set up with 6lb fluorocarbon. I baitfish for trout and drop shot/split shot/wacky rig for bass with the same rod and reel. I've caught numerous fish on it, including 9 bass and a trout today(the trout grabbed the dropshot this time, no bait needed). These bass were caught in a Bass Management Lake and most were in the 2-3 pound range. I had great hooksets and the rod handled like a champ. Very satisfied. I'm thinking of buying another.

Received rod from Cabelas in good condition ,put it together, an went to do a few casts to see how it worked,on the fourth cast the rod snapped in half. Called Cabelas an told tem what happened an they refunded my money with no hassle .Cabelas is a great company to do business with. Pepper
