Work Horse

Bought one of these Cabelas rods in the spring to use for trolling for striped bass and monster blues on Ten-killer lake. I chose the 1 piece 7' heavy action rod and I run 80lb braid to pull the bruisers up fast and keep the out of the rocks. I have broken more than a few very expensive rods fishing like this, but this rod is a real work horse! I've landed 50+pound blues and untold numbers of 15lb+ striped bass with this rod with no problem. I've had monster cats bend this thing nearly double, and just kept cranking. Strongest rod I have ever used and at a fraction of the price of other, lesser rods. Do yourself a favor. If you need a stout rod to wrestle monster fish, don't pay extra for rods that won't take the strain. Buy one of these from Cabelas. You will not be disappointed.

Whuppin stick salt

I broke my favorite "expensive" rod on a huge catfish and needed a replacement. Low on funds I decided to give this rod a try. Upon first examination I wasn't too impressed. After a few trips to the river and catching big cats and stripers I just have to say it's a pretty good piece of gear. I like the action and the pulling strength it had. Now to find time to try it on some bluefish.

Does the job

Used it as a spare rod for Stripers on the Hudson. Performed nicely.

Negative Reviews:

I bought this rod paired with the salt striker reel, worked beautifuly at first. but after just 2yrs, and maybe 6 trips with it, catching stripers, nothing huge, a 14" striper broke the last 8" of the rod clean off. Reel still works great, but the rod didnt last half as long as one would expect.
