Cabela's Whuppin' Stick Spinning Rod -
Over the past 10 years, Whuppin’ Stick rods have become a customer favorite for their nearly indestructible, advanced polymer fiberglass blanks. Back when we first introduced these rods, we knew they would make a splash, but we had no idea they’d create such a tidal wave. For the 10th anniversary, we’ve updated the series with a sleek new look. Graphite reel seats securely lock your reel in place without adding significant weight to the rod. Blank-through-handle construction makes it easy to feel even the light biters. The stainless steel frame guides with ceramic inserts will stand up to the toughest fish. Cork grips ensure all-day comfort.

Very durable and forgiving of rough treatment.

These old school fiberglass rods are tough to break , while offering fair sensitivity and pretty decent overall feel. I use the 9" MH model for Steelhead and Salmon fishing in certain situations where I have to bust through a lot of brush and scramble over rocks, etc. I'm not going to take one of my $300 rods out and thrash it in those situations, especially since their modern high modulus graphite blanks tend to be a bit brittle and are pretty easy to snap if you make a mistake . Not the case with these inexpensive fiberglass Whuppin Sticks ! I also have a couple of the 6' medium actions set up as spare rods in my bass boat....they are great for the grandkids and wives to use , since they are very forgiving of rookie errors . Perfect for situations where you prefer to trade a little bit of sensitivity for a whole lot of durability and a low price point.

a rod for everything

I just cant believe how tough these whuppin stick rods are and still so sensitive they really are. I bought some of the 9' medium action rods for saltwater fishing for bridge fishing. I have caught everything from mangrove snapper to black drum and red fish in the 10 to 12 lb class with 30 lb braided line. and have had my line brake a few times and never broke one of these rods. I like them so well I bought some shorter rods for my downriggers up on erie where I also run divers so I needed a shorter rod for my riggers and these just work great. I just don't believe you can find a better rod for anywhere near this price. I use these for everything from bluegill fishing to saltwater fishing and highly recommend them to anyone.

Good, but not great

Have bought 4 rods. 2 broke off on first fish. Cabelas replaced them and they have performed very well, having caught 25# blue cats, as well as crappie. Being super limber, yet very strong is a big advantage for several types of fishing.

Just buy it

Many years on saltwater and no problems at all. Cost efficient and long life. What to expect more???
