Excellent rod

I decided on this rod for a "Bucket List" trip to Alaska. After reading other reviews I took a chance, and it paid off. I prefer 1 piece rods when possible. But for this trip it wasn't an option. For a 7 foot 5 piece rod, this rod is awesome! I outfitted the rod with a Shimano Stradic 2000 spooled with 10lb Berkley Nano-fil. I used it to catch Rainbows, Dolly Varden, Grayling and Silver Salmon. Over 400 fish caught on it in 11 days. Many extras with this rod like great balance, alignment dots for putting it together straight the first time. Plenty of good quality guides and great sensitivity. It comes with and excellent case for protection which proved well on the 14 mile hike trip up the mountain to Crescent lake in the Kenai Peninsula to catch Grayling. This rod will be riding along with me on many trips from now on!

Great Rod For the Price

I purchased the 7' ml rod for a trip to Kodiak, Alaska. I paired the rod with a 2500 Daiwa Del Fuego reel and 4lb & 6 lb test. I caught pinks till my arm almost fell off. A few of the pinks I landed were pushing double digits. The rod performed great. It has a light feel to it, with plenty of backbone. I would especially recommend this rod to anyone who likes to fish with light line.

XML Rods

Best rods for the money. I use both casting and spinning XML's and they simply cannot be beat!!

Good rod, but not what I expected

I bought a 6'6" ML last year. I already had a two piece 7' medium light XML that I bought two years ago. I really liked the rod, but wanted something I could travel with, so I was excited to see the new 4 piece. While the quality of the rods is comparable, the 4 piece is much heavier, much much heavier. I was going to send it back, but decided to keep it, but not for the reason I had originally intended. They say that it is rated for 4-8 Pound line, but I would say 8-12 would be more fitting, and definitely don't expect to throw anything 1/8 of an ounce very far. It is a good rod for large trout, or smaller salmon, but not a backpacking rod for small trout and greyling. I like the rod, but just wish it had been rated correctly.
