Great Parka

I have worn this parka in 30 degree weather with freezing rain coming in. I was kept warm for 4 hours and not a drop of rain came through. When the freezing rain started, the only reason I had to get out of my tree was the danger of slipping out of the stand. Through the whole trek out I didn't feel cold or wet. It also seemed to breathe well, as I wasn't sweating very much, and I normally sweat more than I would like to admit to. I would highly recommend this parka and the matching bibs. The membrane inside is noisy when you draw back, but when I had a friend wear it to see how loud it was, I didn't hear a peep. I suppose all the noise you hear is only audible to the wearer. The only change I would make is to add a harness slot. It has a license tag, but the slot for a harness would be a nice addition.

Great but not quiet

I really really love this coat but it has enough noise inside that it will be going back. I would not recommend it for any quiet sits on stand, even gun hunting. If you are going to be walking or making deer drives for example it is perfect. It's just too noisy for time in the stand. It is very unfortunate too because every other aspect of the coat is excellent. I want to keep this but I just can't. All of the pockets and the berber fleece pocket lining are all great thoughts. I have Dry-Plus in other garments and they are not noisy so it must just be the rubbing of it and the inner material on this particular coat. The outside (suede) is very quiet but the inside is loud enough that I can't keep it. Too bad, it is comfy, looks great, and is really functional. Runs a tad big but that makes it great for layering under.

Great Parka

Wind and cold just don't bother me when I wear this parka. Made me wonder why I had waited so long to purchase one before now. Hand warming pockets are great when you are just standing around and don't want to drag your gloves out. Speaking of pockets, this parka has pockets everywhere. I almost don't carry my daypack with me anymore.

Neutral Reviews:

Great parka, just noisy.

I purchase this parka after reading all of the great reviews it received. I'm 5'7" and about 230 lbs. I normally wear a 2x shirt, but the xl in this parka fit great with room for layering. When I tried it on, it felt like it would be nice and warm on stand, especially with layers on. I loved everything about this parka save for two things. The first being that the beard/chin guard on the hood closes with hook and loop closure (aka Velcro). In my opinion that is WAY too noisy to use on something you're going to use in the often times, oh so quite woods. Especially something that you would be opening and closing/adjusting while you're in the field. I don't mind it being used on say adjustable cuffs because I think most of us adjust them when we get the coat and then pretty much never mess with them again. Also, open Velcro makes a lot of noise if it brushes up against something. But it seemed like most all of the parkas/jackets used this on the beard/chin guard. This wouldn't be a huge problem for me as I would probably just remove the Velcro and install something like button snaps. So that alone would not have affected my opinion of the parka much. However, what I'm assuming is the Gor-Tex lining inside the parka, makes way to much noise. I saw some of the reviews mention this, while others claimed it was very quite/silent, so I decided to give it a shot. If you bow hunt or otherwise have to/like to get in close, this is likely going to be too noisy for you. If there's a fair amount of wind or other nose when you're out hunting then you can probably get away with using this parka. But if you're like me, the woods are often dead silent when you're out. On the positive side I loved all of the pockets. They were placed well and would be great for holding a bit of gear. And I absolutely loved the hand warmer pockets. They were also placed well and their thick pile berber fleece lining was cozy and would keep your hands nice and warm. But like other reviews stated, their elastic opening would make it difficult to near impossible to put your hands in with anything but bare hands or lite gloves. The outer shell was soft and quiet to the touch. Unfortunately, the noise it made when you move was a killer for me. I ended up returning it and buying Cabela's berber extreme fleece parka. I'm going to review that parka after I take it hunting this weekend, but it's hand warmer pockets are nice and roomy for use with bigger gloves and it is very, very quiet. It's major down fall is that it is not waterproof. However I have a packable camo rain jacket so this is not the end of the world to me.
