Caframo Bora Three-Speed Fans Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

Best fan I've found!

Intalled 4 Bora fans about 1 year ago. Used in a 40' sailboat cruising the Sea of Cortez. Overall impression... Avesome!
These are REALLY quiet fans. I have one in my berth about 2 feet from my head. Even on the mid setting the sound is less than the Caframo Scirocc mounted 10 feet away. They also move a LOT of air. We've rarely used them on the high setting, even in the middle of summer.
Slight downsides are the awkward adjustment and a tendency for the fan blade to move on the motor shaft and ratttle against the housing. Fortunately, the blade is mounted with an easily adjustable brass collet so you can move the blade. It might be an idea to check that the nut on the blade hub is tight when you install the fan.
The adjustment issue isn't a big deal. You just have to unscew a large plastic nut to rotate the fan. Unless you hold the nut, it tends to move with the fan and unscew completely or tighten up prematurely. No big deal and this fan would be my choice if I ever need more.

BEWARE OF WARRANTY

I purchased two of these to replace my worn 15 year old fans that finally died. Very quiet and provide alot of air. I keep them running 24/7 while at the dock to keep air moving inside. After a year, one started making noises then finally died. Took it back to my local West Marine, and they told me it was out of warranty by two days. TWO DAYS!!!!! They informed me that West Marine only has a one year warranty. I contacted CAFRAMO and they told me the truth, that it was covered for two years. Even though my fan was over three years old (sitting in a warehouse somwhere) according to the serial number, they replaced. I did have to to ship it to Canada which cost $35. Now 1 year and 3 months later, the second one has died so I am in the process of going through it again. CAFRAMO customer service is wonderful. West Marine could greatly improve their customer service by actually honoring a warranty and saving the customer aggrevation and expenses. Treat others as you woud want to be treated WEST MARINE.

Excellent fans

These are nice fans! I've used other Caframo products and these are the nicest. Very quiet, energy efficient, and fold into storage position so they're out of the way when not needed.

Having 3 speeds is nice too.

Highly recommend.

The best fan

Locks down great and having three speeds is nice. Plenty of air on the lowest speed and very quiet. Using it in our boat cabin when sleeping over night. Also, wires don't get tangled in blades because of the design.

Great Sleeping, No Noise

We have two in our master cabin and sleep throught the night with no noise and a cool breeze in these hot Caribbean nights.

I am replacing the fans in all cabins and the main salon

A quiet and efficient fan

This fan is very quiet, especially on the low setting, and has very low current draw. I installed two of them (very easy installation) and they will be best used when at anchor and on battery power.

Much improved model

New handle design allows quick positioning, and the new base is much more stable. Two of these units easily replace the noisy stock fans on my Class A motorhome,

A good addition on a summer crusie

I put 2 of these fans in the main cabin. These fans are of good quality and work well. Would be perfect if they would oscillate.

Boar fan

Great fans! Low draw at anchor and quiet. Have installed two on our thirty ft sailboat and will be installing two more. Can't say enough.

Caframo Bora 3 sp fan

Installed in cabin of 22 ft sailboat. Easy to install, low power draw, ok for a small boat, works fine, and is quiet

Defect apparently fixed

Bought three at the same time.
Two years later, lightning struck nearby.
Fried the internal board. Fans stay on, will not turn off. All other electronics were OK.
Call to Caframo wasn't any help, but they replaced the fragile circuitry with a mechanical switch.
I might buy the new model to replace my blown fans.

Good Fan but Switch on front cheaply mad

I have bought about 15 of these over the years the switch can break as we use for guest bedrooms in an off the grid B & B in Costa Rica, guests probably abuse more than you might. I wish they would improve quality on this portion price has gone up, fan same.
