Best Fan Out There - Period!

We now have two of these fans and love them. They are about as quiet as a fan can get, and still do the job. Only notice them at all on a completely still night. If they were loud, my wife couldn't sleep with them on - and at this point she can't sleep with them off! We are totally solar powered so current draw was initial in going to the budget to include these jewels. They don't use anything! The designers were genious when they engineered the power factors. They will point in absolutely ANY direction we want, and then they will fold up out of the way. Unless you are standing them up vertically from the base, do not use the adhesive tape for install. Hanging will need screw mounting.

Love this little fan

I installed this fan in a lower cuddy of my houseboat. The fan that it replaced was noisy and weak. This new fan is extremely quiet, even on high speed. Moves a fair amount of air. The various positions it will move into and the auto shut off features are very nice extras. Installation was easy, but you must have 12-volt wires at the spot where it will be installed. It cost a little more that I wanted to spend but it appears to be worth the extra cost. I totally recomment this fan.

I love these fans but they broke!

These fans have a great many desirable features BUT they (my first purchase of two) were not sturdy enough. Both broke when just out of warranty.
I have heard they have been beefed up since so I have re-ordered two to replace my old ones and to retain the same "footprint."

IF they are now more durable as reported, I will certainly be very happy with them. They will in my opinion be the best on the market considering their convenient features. ... Here's hoping!

A Great Idea

We have one of these installed in our VW Eurovan. The great things are that it is so adjustable and has a timer. However, we can only run it on LOW SPEED as the blade is so out of balance that it makes a roaring sound at higher speeds.

Also, putting a piece of white duct tape over nearly all of the blue light reduced the brilliance of the little light.

Quiet and Moves a Lot of Air

We replaced several good selling competitor's fans that we bought a few years ago with several of these Caframo Fans because we wanted a quieter fan. This is a much better solution for for light sleepers in our crew. This unit also moves twice the volume of air. We are very pleased. Have used these extensively for 3 months in the tropics. I purchased the fans. Randy Repass, Founder, Chairman West Marine

Very Impressed

I purchased 4 of these for my home "motor home" and I am very happy because they are quiet and low powered, plus there is a useful off timer .. very convenient. I am considering more for the driving cabin.

You get what you pay for

I have mounted 4 fans on my yacht. They are a quality product, with an excellent mounting system, quiet operation and excellent value for money.
I looked at some cheaper fans, but wanted the best fan for the job.

These fans are quiet and efficient

Ceiling mounted in the galley whilst cooking, keeping cook cool! Down side requires cleaning, relatively easy, then returned in fold up position. Circulates air over bed when hatches require closing.

Negative Reviews:

Many fail in less than 1 year

Installed in the main cabin for summer in the Sea of Cortez. Great fan, very quiet, but for [$]would expect it to last longer than 10 months (they have a 2-year warranty).I thought the company was Canadian, but the Sirocco fan has a "made in China" label on it. Other (some) models are made in Canada. My fan was mounted on a fairly lightweight bulkhead and the unbalanced fan blade wobbled enough to make the bulkhead vibrate with a fairly loud drumming sound. Otherwise the fan is almost silent. The fan blade is the same as the Compact. The first problem was that the blade slipped down the motor shaft and jammed on the housing. We could push it back but the problem got worse over time. Not long afterwards, the fan began to stop in certain orientations. The failure seems to be in a slip-ring type electrical contacts which allow the fan to rotate through 360 degrees. Haven't managed to fix it. Two other boating friends bought the Siroccos too. Of all 4 fans purchased, all have failed in less than 1 year. Caframo have honored the warranty although one of the replacement fans failed after only 2 months. I really hope they solve the slip-ring problem because the fans are otherwise great. Until then I'll stick with the Bora models which are even quieter but are somewhat less convenient to adjust.

Poor initial quality for a luxury fan

We purchased the fan and installed it on the bulkhead of a CD 28. Gorgeous design and features. Fan only operated on two speeds, not three. Returned fana and bought a new one. Installed it. This one works on only two speeds, not three, and the fan speed hunts between speed levels. Checked voltage at the fan, which was ok. Clearly there are electrical issues that need to be addressed. Went online - several similar complaints. I mean, really? How hard is it to make a fan go round and round properly? The technology has only existed for a century. Very disappointing for a luxury fan.

get the balance right

I have purchased 5 of these and although I consider the fan reasonable quality for the price all the fan blades are out of balance. This causes a noisy vibration and spoils the whole operation. I have had to balance all they are quiet. I suggest someone tells the [*] makers to smarten their quality control and fix the problem.

Poor quality for marine use

Had 2 of these installed on a sailboat. Both quit due to poor electrical contact to motor and switch failure. Replaced both fans with new. One failed within a month replaced it. Then both quit working same problem. Not one of these fans made it a year. Replace fans with Hella Marine 2 speed, cheaper and way beter built.

I've owned 2 - both failed

I bought 2 of these for my 35' cruiser - they both failed in the same way. The fan blades become unattached from the motor shaft after very little usage. The timer light is also very bright for a cabin at night. Avoid.

Camramo fan

DO NOT BUY THIS FAN! The fan will fail within a year, we've bought and had replaced twice by the factory and would NEVER buy the Sirocco Model 807 again! THESE ARE NOT GOOD!!!!! DO NOT BUY!!!!!!

Just Don't Hold Up

Owned four of these. All four died in one year. Mechanism wears through wiring

Well designed but didn't last long

Stopped working after 14 months. The electronics are non functional.

Neutral Reviews:

Potentially a good fan

The Caframo fans have attractive designs and the Sirocco is quiet compared to the smaller ones.
When they are working they are great but when they fail, which is far too often, it is impossible to fix them. 1/3 of the Siroccos I have installed have failed after about a year of intermittant operation.
On examination the electronics is not user repairable and the quality is 'consumer' level. e.g. there is no conformal coating to protect circuit boards from marine atmosphere.
Better internal build quality is required so that the quality compares to the price.

BOTH FAILED. AFTER warranty had lapsed.

Used in saloon and also in Master Cabin of 40' Sloop.
LOVE the design and features. Great air flow and multi positions. The auto selectable timer is brilliant.
These units BOTH failed due to poor quality of manufacture.
When I buy something I expect it to outlast the warranty 10:1. These didn't!I am ordering NEW ones because I understand the quality has been ramped up and because I don't wish to alter the "footprint".
Trust is a wonderful thing. DON'T LET ME DOWN you good things!
MacFURSEAL at on 12/12/2013

OK, but

I installed the fan in the rear cabin of my Beneteau 331. The instructions indicated that I had the option of using an adhesive only, or installing with six screws. I tried the former and one week later found the fan dangling from its cord. Drilled holes, re-installed. Fan would start running only after tapping a blade with my finger. Despite these limitations, it was a key component of a very good night's sleep!

fan redesigned by Caframo

Purchased 3 cabin fans in early April 2012. All three have failed do to poor internal electrical connection. Caraframo has since redisigned this model addressing the problem. Return and replacement of fans for new and improved model very easy via West Marine. Otherwise fans are great for cabins.Pros are:low power use, most quiet fan on market. would only recommend new model.

Veryquiet and really moves air

Bought 3 in 2009 and have had light use. Buttons used to control turning them on/off/etc went bad on 2 of them summer 2011 and the third became erractic in the Fall.

They work extremely well until the button starts to die. Very energy efficient and very quiet.

Can't recommend until they resolve the button failing issue.
