Caldwell Camo Xla Bipods -
In the real world of hunting, the chances of the ideal shot opportunity occuring on level ground are slim – using a pivoting bipod allows you to compensate for ground that is unlevel by up to 20º. The Caldwell XLA bipod provides a stable shooting support that conveniently attaches to almost any firearm with a sling swivel stud. The lightweight aluminum design adds minimal weight and deploys quickly, with legs that instantly spring out to the shooting position with the touch of a button. The lower portion of the bipod pivots independently from the upper stock mount, allowing the firearm to be quickly leveled on uneven ground. The legs are notched for easy indexing to a specific height, and there’s a connection point for sling attachment and multisection legs that collapse forward for convenient carrying. Soft rubber feet provide enhanced stability, while the padded bipod base protects the firearm’s forend. The tension knob can be adjusted to control the resistance of the pivoting motion.

Nice bipod when on sale

I bought this at Christmas time for the kids .22. It lets them leave the rifle in position on the bench when they switch shooters or go to check targets. Our gun club has very basic wood block rests that scratch up stocks. It's the perfect height when extended for the table/seats at the range. It is also the right height for shooting prone out in fields around our place. Easy to install and so far maintenance free.

'Buy A Harris Bipod"

I have ten plus years of field experience with the pivoting Harris bipod and it has never let me down. I was working out of state and didn't have my Harris bipod with me so I purchased the Caldwell pivoting bipod and have had nothing but problems with it. I had to get a drill and drill out the holes on the sling attachment due to poor alignment of the swivel stud attachment and I still have to attach my sling to the bipod before I tighten down the bipod to the gun or it still doesn't align properly. I was recently on a hunt and had the bipod fully extended and went to move my back closer to the tree and with the slightest force on the bipod I heard a snap and one of the springs was dangling and one of the legs of the bipod was completely broken away from the unit. I will now have to find a matching screw so I can reattach the leg to the bipod and hope that the spring still functions properly as well. If you are into buying a "project" then this Caldwell bipod is for you, but if you are serious about hunting, shooting, and hate having breakdowns in the field, then I highly recommend the Harris bipod. The bipods referenced in this review are the 13-27'' pivoting models.
