I really love this water bottle. I'm a little on the clumsy side of things and so the fact that this water bottle never spills is a great thing. I also really love it when I'm in a car. When I use a Nalgene water bottle I spill water all over myself when I try to drink in the car, but with the camelbak its no problem.
Do be aware of the cleanliness of this water bottle though. The bite valve comes off, so its easy to clean, but don't think putting it in the dishwasher will be enough. It isn't necessary to buy the whole camelbak cleaning kit, but just make sure you take the bite valve off and clean it with a q-tip every once in a while. It grows mold pretty easily and its hard to notice until it gets bad.
Overall its great. I'd buy it again.
Between the very attractive design and above average functionality, it's hard to go wrong with this bottle. I've been using it everyday over the last week and have dropped it from waist high and shoulder high on asphalt and concrete with only a few small scratches to show for it. Bottle has laid on its side in the car seat and floorboard and I haven't noticed any leaks. The rubberized handle and improved bite valve make the probability of breakage nearly inconceivable, short of being stomped by Godzilla or trampled by a Brachiosaurus herd, Jurassic Park style.
Whether it's class, work, the night stand, the mountain, on the lake, or the back country, this little guy follows me everywhere. Dropped it countless times and have probably left it outside in the rain/snow once or thrice but it still works perfectly. Only issue is the flip up bite valve doesn't stay in the locked down position anymore but I'm betting that's a user related problem at the moment. If you like drinking water and hate using a ton of plastic bottles, go buy this right meow.
I own about 5 of these things, different sizes for different activities, some used by me, some used by my wife. We both enjoy them. My only concern is that the bite valve tends to get a bit moldy after a while and it's difficult to clean that out. Using a q-tip helps. Way better than standard wide mouth nalgene's, and I believe that they are compatible with some of the msr water filters.
The bite down straw design makes this bottle ingenious. I drink far more water each day with the Eddy. It's always by my side, it's super quick to take a sip whenever you want without the hassling of unscrewing a top and it never spills. I believe there have even been studies saying how much more water people drink with this design of bottle over a traditional screw top. Best water bottle around.
I loved the Camelbak Better Bottle when it came out. A water bottle with a straw was great. I could use it for just about anything. I did, howeve, have some durability issues with the bite valve assembly on the Better Bottle. Not a huge deal, just had to be careful not to break it off. With the Eddy water bottle, Camelbak appears to have solved that issue. Hats off to Camelbak!
I've had a bunch of these for years. Good solid bottles and super durable. Stickers make em look fancy and make me look hardcore. Top seals well and the mouthpiece is easy enough. I prefer it with the straw out so you have to tilt it up, but that's just a preference - nice that you can have it either way!
Buy a few, sticker them up, fill them with tasty drinks!
Love it death but recently discovered that when you remove the rubber mouthpiece you might discover some built up crud...make sure you wash there. My water filter attachment fits perfectly when backpacking. I always carry one with me everywhere and they are extremely durable. The only other drawback is I can never get that last bit of water out without taking off the lid...the straw doesn't reach the bottom.
