So this is a great waterbottle. I love the Camelbak style of mouth piece and I have the pretty leaf design which I think is great!
There are a couple of cons and these are truly the only things I don't like about the bottle and everything else is perfect:
- if you don't get the water out of the mouth piece, under pressure, it will leak.
- the design on the bottle is already starting to scratch, however I am a member so REI will replace it for me whenever
- lastly I know with these bottles after a while they start to create little cultures of your own mouth/food debris bacteria in the mouth piece and in some cases the whole cap has to be replaced so it's somethign to be aware of although it is nothing to be afraid of because those are the cultures that are already in your mouth.
So overall it's a great bottle. I take it everywhere. I love that it has a handle, an easy to sip mouth piece, and it holds a fair amount of water. This is a bottle that was recommended to me by a friend who has been using them for 5 years and I'm not disappointed by the product.
I have had some other "insulated" bottles that just don't make the cut. This CamelBak makes the cut.
I filled it with ice yesterday around 5:30pm. I checked it about an hour later to see how much had melted - about one tablespoon. The outside of the bottle was still room temperature which meant that the insulation was doing its job. Time to get mean. I let it sit on my kitchen table overnight.
I just popped open the bottle. It's around 9:30pm and I have plenty of ice left. Right now, I've got a small cup filled with ice water - with ice - courtesy of this bottle.
Before purchasing, I did a quick search to see if there were any reviews. There weren't any. So I thought I would write this. The bottle seems great!
If your thinking about an insulated bottle, keep this one in mind.
As a side note, there is a similar CamelBak bottle that has a little more capacity. It is an 0.7L verses this one which is 0.5L. The insulated version is a little larger as well which may be a disadvantage in some situations.
Better Than Kleen Kanteen's Insul. Bottl
Kleen Kanteen offers a similar, insulated bottle but you can only get a screw-off cap on the wide-mouth version, the only version available for the insulated version. Both bottles keep ice cubes in cubes even outside the fridge for hours, and there is no condensation outside, but with the Camelbak spout, it makes one-handed use easy on my daily bike commute or off the bike. It is also easy to clean and when washing it with the hottest water, the outside stays cool.
Kleen Kanteen offers a lid that has a slide/flap cover, but it leaks so I had to return it the next day. Both bottles took a lot of abuse and making a direct comparison despite EMS's asking reviewers not to mention other retailers/brands is essential to let folks know how the two match-up in everyday use and in from 9F-103F temps. SIGG doesn't come close has a complicated spring-loaded sip-system that leaked. Camelbak's sip straw allows me to ride in shirt, tie, trousers and not spill. I wish I had discovered it earlier and will buy another to replace the similarly priced Kleen Kanteen and SIGG.
Lost without it!
I have used several containers over the years, but when I found this insulated camelback, I have stopped looking for a better container. For me, IT IS PERFECT. It fits in my work pants pocket without sweating. I put 8 ice cubes in the container 2 hours before work and fill it up with water. I refill the container at least 3 times a day and when I return home I empty the container out--AND THERE IS STILL ICE IN IT! So that is 12 hours of use and the ice is still there! I have used this product for over a year and love it.
Best Water bottle on the Market!!
I have had insulated water bottles from other companies, but they can't even compete with this bottle. I like my water cold. With this bottle, even in warm temperatures, the ice lasts for hours. I like this bottle sooo much that I have two- one for working out/ going to the gym and one for everyday use. I take it with me everywhere I go- to work, out shopping. I am never without it. I like that you can buy replacement straws and bite tips because they can get nasty. The bottle and its components are easy to clean, however.
Great water bottle, little small
This bottle is great for taking to class., even if it's capacity does require frequent refilling. Looks great, good enough to get stollen, which is what happened to my first. And I liked it so much that I bought another.
I have owned many camelback water bottles in the past, and all of them started to leak after about a month of everyday use. This bottle never leaked in the 6 months that I used it. Solid construction.
Not my first time
I have 4 other camelbak water bottles, some insulated, some not.I use them daily when I go to the gym or just like this. Wish insulated had the same capacity as the non insulated bottles. And prefer the mouthpieces you used prior to this one, this one is not as comfortable.
I also find they occasionally leak and I cant figure out why it happens intermitantly.
However this bottle continues to be my first choice.
needs a better pait jib
as an insulator, it is excellent! only problem is that after only 2 weeks, the paint is peeling off the bottle. even with that issue, it is a great bottle
Great water bottle!
Insulates WELL. Dents easily if you drop it on a hard surface. Great slim design. Great water bottle!
