CamelBak Insulated Water Bottle Sleeve - 25 fl. oz. Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

Works well with Nalgene OTG bottle!

I bought this sleeve to use with a Nalgene OTG bottle. I am not sure how much different the size/shape is from the Camelbak, but here is my review.

I bought this in the Blue color and there are some minor differences from the pictures on the website. The Camelbak logo is Black rather than White, and the handle strap is made of the same neoprene material and color as the sleeve. Stitching around base looks a little suspect to me. I'll just have to hope that I'm wrong.

The Nalgene bottle is slightly tapered, which results in the top 1 - 1.5 inches not having a snug fit. Not loose enough to fit my pinky in there without visibly stretching the neoprene, but will certainly allow some airflow.

I decided to do a simultaneous comparison with two bottles. One with the sleeve and one without. Both bottles were filled with 12oz of water and placed in the freezer for 24 hours. (Some small points should be brought up here. A Humangear Capcap was used on both bottes which shouldn't make a huge difference. Also that I had to put the bottles on an angle whilst in the freezer. The angle was roughly 30 degrees. I only mention this because the angle will cause the ice to melt faster.) After this time I filled both bottles with refridgerated water and timed how long it took to completely melt. The un-sleeved bottle took 6 hours and 35 minutes to completely melt and the sleeved bottle took 10 hours and 10 minutes.

Final thoughts:
Aside from being a little worried about the stitching, I am pleased with this sleeves performance and functionality.

Note that these only fit a specific size of bottle; don't get the wrong sleeve for the wrong bottle!

The bottles sweat and these sleeves do keep your other items from getting wet from the bottle collecting moisture out of the air. If I put as much ice in a bottle as I can and then fill with water, these keep it cold for at least half a day. If it is extra hot out, you can pour your ice-chilled water into something else, put in more ice, then pour the ice water back in. If you get too much ice the straw is harder to get back in.

The BLUE colored one has a thin rubbery strap and it seems flimsier than the cloth strap on the feminine colored one which is the same material as the bottle part. My blue one's strap has stretched out a bit but hasn't ripped or anything; I'm just making an observation on the difference.

I have used this sleeve almost everyday (the blue one with black rubber handle) since 2009. Everything has held up except that the rubber strap finally wore through last year (2012). So I replaced it. The sleeve part has held up just fine.

Why I like this sleeve so much is that when I go hiking, I just have to put my hand through the strap (and usually my thumb through the loop)and then let my hand rest on the bottle. I barely have to hold it, so it just becomes an extension of my hand. Because of this, it doesn't feel like I am carrying a water bottle at all. I use the 25 fl. oz CamelBak bottle with this sleeve, and even with the bottle full of ice and water, it is still very comfortable to hold.

I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys hiking or walking and does not like to have to carry anything.

The sleeve is a must have

I love the CamelBak better bottle and have used them since they were first available. The only thing that I didn't like about them was that if the water or liquid that was put into the bottle was not room temperature the bottle began to sweat... Well with the sleeve water stays very well insulated, either cold or hot, without sweating.
I put the sleeve to the test by filling the sleeve covered bottle with ice and water and placed it in the car for over three hours on a hot Sunday. Upon returning to the car to check the water in the bottle, I had ice cold water and still had ice cubes!! Wow, that is impressive. I am truly a fan of the sleeve and wish that it came in the 16 oz. size which is the size that my three children use; maybe next year. This sleeve is a must have!

We use these every day!

We have used Camelbak water bottles for years now and we love them, except the sweat around the bottles. (it is very humid where we live)
I found these Sleeves and decided to try them. My husband was skeptical and a little discouraged that I had ordered 6 of them. Now he won't leave home without a sleeve on his bottle.
The sleeves help keep your water colder and the bottles don't sweat. There is a great strap that makes it easy to carry multiple bottles without feeling like your fingers are going to break off.
Since there are only 3 colors available I put caribeener clips on the sleeve so my kids would know which bottle was thiers.

I highly recommend these sleeves and wish they also came in a 16 ounce size.

These work great!

I bought two of these sleeves to use with my CamelBak Podium 24 oz. water bottles. I was looking for a solution to carrying a 100 oz. CamelBak water bladder in my backpack which adds a lot of weight and takes up space. Each sleeve has a large loop on it which I am able to fit over the hip belt on each side of my backpack's waist belt. This lets me carry two 24 oz. water bottles with ease. They are easy to access and don't move around at all. These are the perfect solution to help me run a little lighter on hikes where a water source is nearby, and I don't need to carry as much water with me.

I love this bottle carrier!

I bought two of these bottle sleeves to use while backpacking. They fit my 24 oz CamelBak Podium water bottles well. The fit is snug but not to tight to make it difficult to get the bottle out of the sleeve. The large loop/strap on the sleeve (I estimate the loop is at least six inches) fits over my backpack waist belt so that I can carry my water bottle on my hip. These sleeves seem very durable and very well made. They were just what I was looking for!

As others have noted, this sleeve makes the Camelback Better Bottle even better! While its insulating properties and ability to either absorb or eliminate condensation have proved useful in a variety of contexts, it's been most valuable for hot yoga class. In the very-hot (104 degrees F or more) room, my iced water was soon lukewarm, and there was a big puddle around the water bottle. This sleeve keeps the water icy through a 90-minute class, and no apparent condensation!

I love these.

We love reusing our water bottles but they became wet with sweat immediately. This sleeve helps to minimize the sweat and I love it.

Our granddaughter has the smaller bottle and I would like to get a smaller sleeve for it but can't find one.

I would definitely recommend this.

A must buy if you have a camelbak bottle

I use this every day at work and it keeps my drink cold just that extra bit longer to help me get through the day. The best part about it is I don't have to worry about condensation dripping all over my pants anymore!

Negative Reviews:

Not That Great

I was very disappointed when this Camelbak sleeve did not keep my drink cold as it advertises. It kept the drink cold for about 1/2 and after that, my drink was warm. I must add, I do live in an area that can get "very" hot in the summer.

I would not recommend this product.

Neutral Reviews:

good but not great

After using the insulated sleeve one time, stitching at the top has begun to come undone. While the sleeve does keep my water cold, I'm not satisfied with the quality. Unfortunately, the nearest REI is 3 hours away.
