The NV is worth it

I tried this model along with a few of last year's that were still in store on clearance, and the regular MULE. The difference between the models was significant enough for me to spend the extra for this year's model. The pack fits on my back perfectly. The air-flow spines make its presence almost unnoticeable. The air-flow feature is very important, as it moves the pack off your back. With the regular MULE, or other models that sit directly on you, my back would get sweaty after just a short while. Not so with the NV. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Put this bag through the wringer!

I purchased this bag more as a universal all around smaller backpack. It has performed perfectly. I use it daily for commuting to work, but then on the weekends have used it for anything from long distance trail runs to smaller sport climbing approaches.

I have only owned this bag for a summer, but with everyday use and consistent overloading. I am very happy with my purchase. The bag is still in perfect shape, colors are a little faded after a few mandatory washes but that is to be expected when you treat gear as I do.

Great pack

I was highly skeptical about the promise to keep your back dry, but it does really work, paired with a moisture-wicking top layer, it keeps me extremely comfortable. I think the price is a little high though but I'm happy with it. I use very often, no less than 3 times a week and on rides over 4 hours, I can carry 3 litters of waters plus some food and other essentials and even then, I haven't have any discomfort. Quality is excellent even though I've only have had for less than 6 months.

Great All Weather Pack

This pack is ideal for mountain biking. I have used it a few times in the past week in a variety of conditions and it has held up nicely. In the rain the built in ducks back is amazing. Simply pull that over your pack and you can keep all of the contents dry and keep the pack clean if riding through mud. The different straps also make it easy to fit the pack close to your body so it doesn't shake around during a ride.
cellogeye at REI on 11/11/2013

Perfect size and functionality

This sees a ton of use for all my longer MTB rides and day hikes. I have a smaller CamelBack for quick things but the ability to throw in lunch or a jacket or even some sandals for playing in some waterfalls all while keeping it secure from bouncing around and pulling you off balance while decending the most technical stuff is fantastic. I never had the pack shift or even had to fuss with it on a 47 mile MTB ride of an adventure race.
Moodaddy at REI on 05/05/2013

This pack is the best little hydration pack I think you can get for a day ride in the mountains! I would say the best part about it is that the soft dry pocket for electronics is great because it is padded enough that when you fall it will most likely not break them! It is not too big, not too small, its all around great!!! Picture will be coming! Love the color schemes too!

Shawn Cash at Backcountry.com on 08/07/2013

I have the older version of this pack, but I still love it. I use it for everything from hiking, to canoeing trips, etc. Great fit and venting, love the colors, can fit full sized 3L bladder in it. Zippers function great, cool compartment to keep all of the small stuff organized. Lots of room, overall great pack for all around use, or for the intended purpose of shredding mountain bike trails.

Alex at Backcountry.com on 06/06/2013

Holds plenty of water for a day trip. Has a LOT of storage space with a bunch of pockets. My only knock is that it didn't do to well in the rain. After only about 15-20 minutes in a light rain, the contents of my bag had gotten pretty wet. If you are just doing day rides or hikes and it wont be raining, this is a good bag for you.

Mike Fairlie at Backcountry.com on 08/08/2013

Amazingly Versatile Pack.

This pack is perfect for my uses- biking, camping, even all-day hikes. I love the expandable storage that stays compact when not in use and can compress gear to keep it small on your back. Great fit for my small frame and my step dad's very large frame.

I've started using it for trips around town in LA even.

Nice Compact Pack

This is a great little day pack for short rides. The air flow along the back kept my back from becoming a waterfall even in 100+ degrees. It has enough water storage for longer rides or hikes but the storage is a little limited. It has a great helmet hook which is great for those mid day stops to grab a bite or after ride tavern trips, allows to keep all your gear together. The extra pullout helmet/pack rain cover is a waste of space as far as I am concerned. That added space could have been used better for added pocket space.I give it 3.5 stars out of 5.
