With all the same features as the M.U.L.E., the Camelbak M.U.L.E. NV takes it one step further with the N.V.I.S. back panel for plenty of airflow to keep you cool on the trail. Camelbak does a great job of exceeding our expectations, even if they do it with a bag that's been around since i was in elemetary school.

Great for mountain bikes and light hikes | |

| I've used Camelbak since they came out with their first product. The MULE NVIS is an improvement over the original. I use it for mountain bike rides that take 4-6 hours. It can hold a fair amount of gear, though that gear capacity is limited due to the NVIS insert (removeable) that holds the pack off your back allowing air to flow through. I imagine in colder weather with outerwear, the NVIS panel isn't necessary. With a full bladder, you have to stuff items into the main cargo compartment. So expect that PBJ sandwich to be a little smashed. I can still fit a light rain jacket, an emergency blanket and some food inside. There is a small organization pocket for tools, small pumps, energy bars, etc. The one thing I miss from previous MULEs are the inclusion of a bungee cord system on the outside of the pack to hold a jacket or long sleeve shirt. The zip in rain cover at the bottom of the pack is a bonus, though I haven't had to use that in Southern California yet. The pack has come out unscathed during multiple getoffs on the mountain bike. Its narrow profile allows freedom of movement and doesn't feel cumbersome. Four stars due to the limited cargo with NVIS Panel and lack of bungee system. | |

| I bought this bag a couple of months ago. I had a Hydrapack and the bag broke after 3 years of use and couldn't find the parts. Decided to go with Camelback, because finding parts is not an issue. This is an awesome pack. Fits really good and comfortable. The NV system is really nice, you still get a sweaty back but is because of the biking and not because of the pack. You feel the ventilation and the lack of pressure on your back. It is really uncomfortable to have a wet shirt and on top of that have the backpack press it against you, well this bag solves that issue. Something else I really like is how I can carry all my stuff. I wanted a bag that would allow me to carry all my pads and my full face helmet up the mountain without being bulky for the descent. Well this bag does it. You forget you have it on. I use the side straps for my pads and in the back I can securely attach my full face. I can place my I-pod in the media pocket. I guess my only complain would be that the NV system take some storage room from the pockets, but is worth it. | |

| Got this bag recently, and used it on a 55 mile road bike through constant rain. The bag wears really well - snug, doesn't shift, comfortable - I barely noticed it was there. Has great water capacity, and a nice set of pockets - can hold little things, big things. It's expandable, and with the compression straps, cinches down really tight when it's empty. The rain cover was *money* - the bag stayed almost completely dry (only wetness came from the water running down my back, but that didn't even make it into the bag further than the removable NVIS "frame"). Only *potential* downside is the bag feels a little bulky, mostly because of that NVIS airflow deal - but you can remove it if you don't like it or want it. Very happy with the bag - nice size, carries enough stuff, wears well. | |

| I purchased this CamelBak in the preparation for my first long-haul cycle touring with friends. We went down and back up the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The pack was a lifesaver, it held the perfect amount of water. I never felt bogged down by it and the storage for little things like snacks and phones were awesome... The "venting" setup of the pack made it very comfortable and for someone with wide shoulders the pack was perfect... I highly recommend this pack. | |

| This pack is great if you are going out on some rooted out single track or on a day hike in the hills. I was looking for a pack with a lot of storage and a 3 litre bladder. The Mule fits the bill nicely. I was a little concerned about the waist strap while riding, but it is actually very helpful in keeping the pack secure and it isn't constrictive. Lastly, ventilation on the back is great! | |
