Good replacement part

My camelback (>10yrs) stopped delivering water. It took me a little while to figure out that the tube liner had detached, so when I tried to draw on it the liner would pinch shut. I thought I'd probably have to buy a whole new reservoir, but then I saw this part was available. I almost didn't buy it after reading the reviews. My experience was much better. In the store I looked at the instructions, which say: put the ends in hot water to soften them up to get the plastic bits inserted. I just ran the ends under the kitchen hot water, and installation took a couple minutes and was pretty easy. (The instructions also say to use rubbing alcohol [to lubricate it?], which might make it even easier) The tube seems flexible and pliable just like the old one, it's not kinking or giving me any problems.

The only drawback is the price, $9 for tubing that can't be worth more than a dollar no matter how exotic. It makes it worth thinking about upgrading to a whole new reservoir. My system is fine otherwise so I think it's worth repairing, but inspect your bladder and connectors, be sure they're not about to fail.

Worked fine!

I bought this to replace the old tube on my Camelbak. I had read reviews saying the replacement tubes kinked easily. This one feels a little less heavy-duty than the original but if you coil it right in the pack it seems fine. I used mine on two all-day bike rides and had no problems.

Negative Reviews:

Very difficult to use

The tube on my original two-liter Camelbak bladder started breaking down recently (the inner liner was separating from the outer tube), so I bought one of these as a replacement. I wonder if the design of the tubing has changed over the years, because this new tube is much less pliable than the old one. I've followed the instructions for use (e.g., warm the tube with warm water, use rubbing alcohol at the attachment points), but it is nearly impossible both to attach the tube securely to the bladder (i.e., hard to push it on far enough to get a secure fit) and to remove the tube for cleaning once I've jammed it on there. All of the pulling and pushing I have to do makes me think I'm weakening the entire structure. I'm not a weak person by any means, but I seriously tire myself out working with this gear and have to take multiple breaks during the process (both to rest and to calm my frustration). After several episodes, I'm finished, and this bad experience is pushing me to another brand of hydration pack that's easier to work with.
