Camp Chef Lumberjack Over The Fire Grill Reviews:

This is a must for anyone cooking on the fire. I use it as a platform for both grilling meat, and as a stove top for the cast iron. It is remained sturdy throughout the most severe uses. I have heated it up to red hot and it has survived and remains functional. It folds flat and as such is easy to pack in your car. I also own a spit and a tee-pee style grill and while each has its purpose, if I had to own just one tool for cooking on the fire, this would be the one. The only challenge I have faced is some park fire pits (steel rings) aren't quite large enough to accommodate the legs extended, but the rig can be balanced on the ring, fairly well. In these particular circumstances the tee-pee grill seems to work best, but be sure you get the longest/highest one you can as the ring is often elevated.

Pretty ingenious idea. I mean, why set up a stove if you can just cook over the campfire you are kicking it at anyway? We cooked burgers, brats, dogs, and steak on this already and it works great. Easy simple idea.
Cleaning it can be a bit tedious and I recommend keeping the box it came in so you don't have a greasy metal plate smearing on everything. It is heavy so just sticking it in a garbage bag doesn't work well as it can easily tear through the sides.

This thing is unreal for car camping. Bringing a grill and propane/gas is a pain in the ass and you are going to be building a fire anyways, so why not just throw this thing on top!? First, food over a fire tastes better! Also, its a cinch to clean. I just let it sit over the fire until all the food bits burn off then a few scrapes with a grill brush and you are ready for the next car camping adventure.

I've had one of these for the past couple of years and they are tough, although it won't hold up if a Crown Vic drives over it.. Haha. Best thing ever for car camping. I once had an Eagle Scout come camping with me and he told Me he had never cooked over an open fire! I laughed and continued to cook my steak.
Ive cooked everything on this from chicken to oysters, you simply can't beat it!

Sweet piece of gear, I cant believe it took me this long to get one!
Such a great idea and I'll always toss this in the back of the car for any car camping trip.
Super easy set up, would take a grill brush with you to clean it afterwards and put it back in the box for easy storage and transport.

I purchased the larger three foot variety and found that it worked great set over a National Forest Service fire ring. Need to get the fire down pretty low to do the grilling, it can be difficult to be attentive enough when it's dark out and several beverages have been enjoyed. It gets hot. Highly recommend this beauty.

I use this instead of my stove whenever possible. The food tastes so much better over a fire, eh? Can fit quite a bit of food on it and it's a solid piece of gear.

If you camp - even car camp - you need this. We've used it several times and love it. It is heavy. Would not want to backpack with this baby!

This grill is awesome. It's really easy to set up and it's pretty sturdy. It folds up to be relatively flat so it doesn't take up a lot space.

I take this with every time I go car camping. Nice and heavy duty had mine for four years with many a meal cooked on it!
