So these are one of my new favorite ski mitts. I have always been a glove guy for skiing, but recently have had problems with cold digits and decided a mitt was going to have to be the way I need to go. When I first got these I was concerned I would not get a nice grip around my poles, but after a few outings they really broke in and felt like they packed down so I get a better grip. Though they packed down, I don't feel like I lost any insulation. Now I don't notice a difference between these and a traditional glove. The glove themselves is much softer and flexible than a traditional leather. The nose wipe is very soft and has a lot of coverage. The gloves fit over my jackets pretty well so I have good coverage. The palm grip is durable and gives you excellent grip to poles and or anything else you may be gripping. I use these pretty comfortably down to 0, and have not had any problems with freezing digits since. I would not recommend these for altitude accents, as they just don't have that 0 drop factor, but for around the resort and some backcountry skiing endeavors, these are a great glove for the job. I have large hands and typically wear a large to Xl and I wear an XL in these comfortably.
I used Hot Finger gloves on my morning walk, but they don't get the job done below 10 above. We got hit with a really, nasty cold streak here in MN where it was well below zero for 2 weeks straight. I bought these to keep my fingers warm and boy do they work! The first day I had them it was 14 below zero and my hands were sweating the entire time. If you need warms hands in frigid weather, they are worth every penny.
The quality of construction is excellent. The fit & sizing are excellent. The gauntlet tie works very well. There are no cold spots when you tighten them properly. I suspect these mittens will last a long time. Anything made by Canada Goose is expensive, but performs at the top of its class.
I have Reynaud's syndrome, so I am delighted to report these really work--I've now worn them in Montana and New Hampshire. I also like the fact that they are waterproof and do not have a leather palm to get soggy with snow.
This mitten is very warm and keeps my hand dry! They are even too warm for hiking with snowshoes or backcountry skiing, but suffering from Raynaud it is nice to find a mitten that really keeps my hands warm!
I am currently working in Nunavut canada and ordered a pair of these mitts to go along with the Canada Goose coat i have ( snow mantra) The coat is just amazing, the mitts....... horrible. The mitts are not even made in Canada lke the coats and Canada Goose should be ashamed of themselves for even allowing this product on the market. The company has a great rep because of the high quality coats and rightfully so because the coat i have is just amazing, i would sleep on Santa's door step for a month in the mantra.
Very disappointed that these gloves are outsourced to China. We buy Canada Goose coats and snowsuits specifically to support fair wages and high standards, so were a bit shocked that the label of this mitten was not also made in Canada, especially after the company makes such a big deal about knockoffs made in China aren't nearly as high quality on their website. I'd prefer they make the gloves themselves.
For the money these mittens cost, they should keep my hands warm, but they don't! I have a pair of goosedown mittens I bought about 25 years ago & even tho they are pretty well worn out, they are still much warmer than this pair.
