nice liner

I bought these to use for casual trail riding because they could be worn comfortably under a skirt or pants without looking too bulky. That said, these liners are probably opaque enough to wear on their own as long as you aren't wearing white underwear.

I like these because the gel pad isn't so obtrusive that it makes it awkward to walk around while wearing these. The gel chamois has partitions that naturally conform to your body both walking and in the saddle. I've owned other gel shorts that make you feel as though you're sitting on a pillow or extend too far to the front, and I'm thrilled that that's not the case with these.

I haven't experienced the tightness around the legs that other people have commented on, but I do agree that these do run a little large in the waist and sit above your hipbones more towards your bellybutton. Given that they sit high, it's kind of nice that they have a wider, looser waistband because it lays flat under pants or a skirt and won't dig into your skin if you have a softer middle.

LOVE THESE! I wear them as shorts

Comfy, quick drying. Inexpensive. I didn't realize you weren't supposed to wear underwear with cycling shorts so I do it anyway. I wear these to my spin class by themselves and I can't see through them (with dark panties) so I am buying more. Your situation may vary but my spin class is one of those dark club-like places and I don't care if you can sort of see panty fabric through them. It beats a pair that costs twice as much. I handwash them at night and they're dry by the following evening for another class.

For regular outdoor rides I often wear these under a skirt or pants (casual rides, not fitness rides) .

Gel Liner Bike Shorts

I bought these bike shorts for cycling to save myself some pain after long bike rides. They are comfortable and work well to minimize discomfort from the bike seat. One thing I did notice is the length of the shorts (from waist to the bottom of the shorts) doesn't fit my body size that well. For the shorts to sit properly in the inseam, I have to fold the waist band over itself otherwise they go up past my belly button and are loose around the waist. The elastic around the legs is also a little on the tight side. However, these are minor complaints, all things considered.

Like Buttah

I've been looking for something to cushion my tush during riding without cutting off circulation to my legs and waist. This is the ticket. Wore them this morning and didn't think about my rear-end once and it doesn't feel bruised. Weird since the pad seemed kinda shotty and thin when I bought it compared to the Cannondale shorts with chamois I was previously wearing. Overall, I really enjoy not feeling like I'm wearing a maxi-pad during my rides.

great for the price

I was surprised that these were actually a bit big in the waist (I have a thicker waist). I thought that they would be much tighter, and I really liked that fact that they didn't squish me. They were very comfortable. They have lots of padding and worked great for what I used them for. I wore them under skortz and they were perfect for that.

Happy overalll

I bought these to help cut down on the discomfort I would feel after a long ride. I had my fingers crossed for a miracle, but was expecting less. They are great. Noticeable improvement in post saddle discomfort. No miracle. There are some with thicker padding, but they a a lot pricier. These are great for what I paid, and I don't ride without them.

Prefer these to shorts

I prefer these to the Canari Pro Gel Bike Shorts I also bought from REI at the same time. If you like a tight fit, go down a size. I prefer the looser fit on these and that they don't dig in or bind the waist or legs. Good padding in the right places

They survived "Midnight Madness" ride

Wore these last weekend with my orange animal-print tights in the San Diego "Midnight Madness" bike ride -- beat last year's time by at least 15 minutes. Really comfortable, no binding, stretchy where they need to be and cushy where it helped the most. GOOD STUFF.

Love this liner

I love this liner. It has a generous gel pad that is wonderful for any ride but especially the long one. Getting ready to buy another. Allows you to ride in any of your shorts

Pretty Good!

These are great, well cushioned. The only comment of note is that they are fairly warm, making them perfectly suited for cold weather.

Negative Reviews:

Just ok, just barely

I bought these for spinning classes at my gym. After three wears and three washes, the gel cushion is completely gone. Another reviewer mentioned that these do not feel like wearing a maxi-pad but now that the gel is gone, that's exactly what these feel like. They were wonderful for the first class, but went downhill quickly after that. I don't know if I can return them but I will certainly be shopping for something else.

Great price for Gel

My first GEL-type short. I have to say they are a bit to get used to. I feel they do not let me adjust on the seat as easier. But they are better padding than non-gel shorts. I can wear one pair and feel I have padding vs 2-pair of the non-gel. The waistband is thick so it holds up better than my other bike shorts. The material seems thin, so these are more 'undergarments' or "liner" like they advertize, so I wear these under knickers or tights, etc. Price is great compared to other gels. I do feel the binding around the bottom leg is tighter than most so that takes a bit to get used to

Would recommend is concerned about price. If willing to pay more, get a pair made out of traditional bike material.

Weird fit for me

Should have tried this on before purchase. It could have just been this one short, but the medium I grabbed was way too loose on top, and so tight around my thighs. I'm 5"10 and 160lbs with average athlete thighs so I was very surprised to have these turn out to be so darn tight. I'll be returning and looking for a different pair of short cycling shorts.

Good for Short Trips

This liner is fine for a short trip. The only negative is that it doesn't breathe well. I felt very warm and sweaty with these underneath a pair of regular gym/tech shorts.
