Excellent value in cycling shell

Rating:*****
ORDER ONE SIZE LARGER. I purchased this shell after trying the Pearl Izumi microlite from STP. Returned the Pearl b/c noisy in high wind, and too big. This Canari is a much better value than the PI. I wear it on daily rides in weather ranging from mid-20s to 60s. Excellent wind protection and good breathability (cannot comment on water resistance). Visibility is outstanding (neon yellow). I like the back pocket, where I carry cellphone, energy bar, banana, etc. When weather warms, stuff jacket into back pocket, and wear around waist using elastic belt. The fabric is a little heavier, which makes it quieter in high winds. There is nothing about this jacket that I dislike. Form follows function. [...]

Order a size larger!

Rating:****
I bought this as a gift for my husband and am so glad that I read the reviews before purchase. I ordered a size larger and this fits him perfectly. If I would have gone with his regular size, the sleeves would have been too short. (he is average sleeve length). The only con is that it does not have any pockets. Otherwise, by ordering a size up...the fit is perfect.

Nice & light. Fits well if sized right.

Rating:****
I am a pretty solid size 42 (L) but I had to get an XXL to fit properly. Once I did, it's been great. The yellow is very visible and the wind protection has been terrific. I use it for both running and cycling, often at night. I haven't tried it in wet weather, and it does need at least one pocket. For the price I'd recommend it.

Exactly what I was looking for...

Rating:*****
I wanted a jacket to wear while going biking in the mornings or early evening. Occasionally I ride at night as well. Very visible to drivers. I always wear it when biking alone, for safety reasons. In terms of size, I got a small and it was a good fit for my small frame. Was very happy with purchase and definitely would recommend it.

Great, economical jacket!

Rating:****
This jacket works superbly as a windblocking layer. I took the advice of othes and ordered a size up (L) from what I normally wear (M) and it works great-not too baggy, but enough room to add a layer of warmth underneath. It doesn't have pockets, which would be handy, but it isn't advertised to have them either. Good jacket for the money.

High Visibility

Rating:****
Visibility at dusk and in fog was my principle concern and this product is more than adequate. I've only worn it a couple times but its not particularly breathable and I'm not planning on using it unless visibility is critical. Sizing: I'm inbetween a large and extra-large and wear mostly large but, as other reveiwers point out, go up in size.

Well Made Wind Protection

Rating:****
I recently purchased this Microlyte Shell and have been used it several times. It provided warmth on rides in the 30's. It does well at reducing the effect of wind. I like its visibility and seems well made and durable. I will have to deal with condensation on the inside, which so far has been manageable.

Good Jacket

Rating:*****
I really like this jacket's quality of materials and workmanship, and the Canari brand has never disappointed me. But just be careful it is designed to fit close and their XL is 44-46 chest, while other's may be 48! I recommend a size larger at least, especially if you want to wear layers in the cold

Great commuter attire

Rating:****
This is what I expected. The one disappointment is that at high speed the garment, in particular the baggy sleeves, ruffles in the wind and makes a lot of noise, and is therefore not so aerodynamic. This is a good thing though, in winter when you might need to put some bulky layer under it.

Excellent product - glad I bought it

Rating:*****
I use this shell for biking anytime I need protection from the wind, a chilly day, or at night because of the excellent visibility. I usually wear small, but I had to send it back for a medium because the sleeves felt short and tight across my back. Otherwise no complaints.

Negative Reviews:

Very strange fit

Rating:*
I have owned Canari products in the past and have been quite satisfied, but this jacket has a very unusual fit. I read other reviews about the snug fit, so I ordered a Large, but you would have to be pencil thin to make this jacket work. Cut way too short across the back. Unless you are really thin, don't bother. Had to return.

Too small

Rating:**
I am 6'2" 230 lbs and typically wear a size 42-44 chest so I ordered the XL (44-46). When I tried it on, I had to pull it closed to zip... then I stretched out my arms in a riding position and found the sleeves rode 3 inches above my wrist.

Save Your Money!

Rating:*
I bought this jacket because it was an inexpensive high visibility jacket. Order one size larger than you normally wear. There are no vents and it does not breath well, it's like wearing a bright green garbage bag!
Kevin at Sierra Trading Post on 07/08/2008

Undersized

Rating:**
Not sized like any other clothing I've purchased. (I never try anything on and never have to return anything, until now.)

Light and good value

Rating:***
For the price this is great. This would be a perfect jacket if it had some pockets. Also I would say it is a full size too small. Normally wear a XL had to return for a XXl.

Bummer

Rating:***
Too small, all around. Sent for larger size- which arrived in nylon, not the Bio Vent fabric of the first jacket. After several calls, I've been unable to get any help from Sierra Tr. Post on this.

No Frills Shell

Rating:***
This jacket is minimalist, but could use 1-2 pockets, and a mesh vent across the back. I usually wear a Large, but the XL is the better fit.

Sizes too small

Rating:***
I returned it because it was too small -- if you get one, get at least the next size up from your regular size.

Pocketless

Rating:***
I wish I'd read the listing more carefully; the no pocket issue would have kept me from buying this jacket.

Windproof, but not breathable

this jacket does protect you from the wind, but is is not breathable.
