Canon Lens Hood EW-60C for EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 II III IV V 28-90mm & EF-S 18-55mm Lenses -

One of the most important accessories for each lens you own. A lens hood provides multiple functions: it shades the lens from stray light, improving your contrast and image quality; in inclement weather, it can assist in keeping moisture or wind-blown debris off the lens; and it protects the front barrel from the inevitable impacts against walls, door frames, and other real-life obstacles. Almost all EF and TS-E lenses have a Canon lens hood engineered specifically for it.

Genuine Canon Product, Fits Perfect

This lens hood is a genuine Canon product, so it fits perfectly. I use this hood on my 18-55mm kit lens and also on my 55-250mm Canon lens. Its made of a thick, durable plastic so it is pretty rugged. I wish Canon would supply this hood with the kit like they do with the L series lenses, but oh well.

Good cover for a lens

The lens cover not only covers the lenses it talks about, I found that it will also fit on my Canon EF75-300. Takes a lot of glare out of the pictures, as well. Would recommend this item to anyone with a canon lens.

Does what it's made to do.

It's a hood. It can be mounted backwards, and its easy to put on. Only problem is that the hood is designed for the wide side of the 18-55, but it does what I mainly want it for, protecting the lens.

Helped my outdoor shots

I took my nieces senior pics & noticed an awful glare
so i had my daughter running around with a piece of cardboard to deflect it.... this saves my poor daughter alot of headache!!

Works as intented

This was a gift for my daughter who just got a Canon Rebel XSi -- her first DSLR. I'm sure it will work great for her.

Does the job

I don't know if this shallow lens shade is doing anything for my image quality but it does afford substantial protection for the lens.

Good but pricey

Does what it is supposed to but has the "Canon" price tag. Generic would work as well at a fraction of the cost.

Valuable Lens Hood

Lens hoods are invaluable when photographing in bright light, whether indoors or outdoors, in preventing flares in your photos.

Negative Reviews:

OK as a lens hood

This non-OEM lens hood is OK as far as it's function...it attaches to the lens and functions as a lens hood. Howeverm the material is considerable weaker than the OEM lens hood and does not attach as smoothly. For the price, it is OK in function but less so in quality of materials

Neutral Reviews:

Overly simple

I will use this product in the outdoors where sun can be a problem, causing lens flare. this lens hood will help prevent that as well as protect the lens from damage from bumping.

Good but

Best used on a wide prime lens.
On a long zoom it has little effect.
