Capo teamed up with Competitive Cyclist to design the new Adriatico limited edition jersey/bib shorts, which pay homage to the storied seven-day stage race that takes place in Italy each spring. Called by many as the 'race of the two seas,' the Tirreno-Adriatico spans the country's interior, and it serves as a final preparation for many riders looking ahead to the Spring Classics season. As part of the apparel collection honoring this race, the Adriatico LE Bib Shorts were built with many of the same technical features that are found in Capo's other high-end collections, only they were finished off with a graphic treatment that will only be available for a limited amount of time.
For the construction of the Adriatico bib shorts, Capo used its new high-gauge (HG) Lycra and V-Mesh 360. Testing showed Capo that by implementing the combination of these two materials into these shorts, circulation and temperature regulation were increased over previous Lycra/mesh iterations. You'll also notice the distinct tight-knit appearance of the HG fabric right away, which, in addition to providing exceptional moisture transfer from the skin to the material's outer-layer, is also extremely durable. This characteristic comes as a much-welcomed side effect of compressive fabrics, and it's the reason that Capo targeted the abrasion-prone inner-thigh and saddle panels with this material.
The additional leg panels of the Adriatico received a certified Power Lycra. This is also a highly compressive spandex that's highly abrasion-resistant. This material was treated with Coldblack technology throughout, which doesn't wash out and is able to dissipate heat better than other dark stretch fabrics. It accomplishes this by reflecting the sun's rays off of the Lycra rather than absorbing it. Essentially, this means that you'll feel cooler and more comfortable as your body heats up. The bib shorts' uppers received Capo's super lightweight V-Mesh 360. This open mesh fabric is highly elastic with a supple texture that provides unmatched comfort, support, and freedom of upper body movement. And while the V-mesh 360 keeps your top half secure, the bib shorts' leg panels stay in place using 4cm silicone-backed grippers.
The chamois incorporated into the Adriatico is Capo's Anatomic-DP Carbon Elastic Interface Technology (EIT) Insert. It uses high-density open-cell foam that's been bonded to an anti-microbial microfiber layer. This layer features antimicrobial carbon fiber threads that've been woven through it in order to aid in moisture evaporation. In addition to the slim, movement-freeing shape, there are also 6mm- and 8mm-thick pads that are built into the pre-curved profile. Together, these segments work to optimize support on long rides.
The Capo Adriatico LE Bib Shorts are available in the color Black and in five sizes from Small to XX-Large.
