To be a padrone, or master, of your craft, you need the best gear at your disposal. This idea couldn't be more relevant then when the temperature drop threatens to bar you from the outdoors. However, Capo knows that there's always a right tool for the job, and that a winter jacket will only provide you a disservice in the fall and early spring. That's why Capo created its Padrone Wind Vest. With a fit that's reminiscent of a race-day jersey and materials that couldn't get better if they tried, the Padrone Wind Vest is the obvious choice for shoulder season riding.
Hailing from Capo's GS lineage, the Padrone Wind Vest embodies all of the characteristics that set Capo apart in the apparel business. To start along the road of achieving this lofty goal, Capo used two superior fabrics for the vest's construction -- Super Roubaix Skin and WindTex. In the design, WindTex acts as a membrane to the body construction of Super Roubaix Skin, and the reason is obvious. With a warp-knit construction, the material has a natural stretch. Within the knit, the threads follow a zig-zag pattern along the length of the vest. This allows more surface area coverage while using less material, equating directly to an airy, lightweight construction. Super Roubaix's open weave also accelerates moisture transfer from the skin to the quick-drying surface of the vest. However, the precise brushing process is what contributes most to its warmth. After the dying process, dedicated machines perform a brush to the inner-lining that provides a high, fleecy, and warming loft.
WindTex also contributes to the warming sensation of the Padrone Wind Vest, but its main task is to block the wind and rain. Featuring a triple-layer composition, the membrane is both wind- and water-resistant. Additionally, the membrane is extremely breathable, so you can check off all of the boxes on your wish list -- breathability, warmth, and dryness.
And while top-end fabrics are terrific, their use is nullified if the fit is out of order. That's why the Padrone vest's fit is nothing short of impeccable. Using a multi-panel, contoured design, the vest follows the shape of your body, while following its movements in and out of the saddle. It's been cut tightly to ensure a close, next-to-skin feel that's indicative of your favorite jersey. This minimizes abrasion, while also forming a closely controlled insulation layer.
The Capo Padrone Wind Vest is available in the colors Black and White and in five sizes from Small to XX-Large. For maximum usage, Capo suggests wearing the Padrone vest between the temperatures of 40 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
I wish this was a perfect fit, because the material and design are superb! The problem I had with it was that XL was way too snug for me (5'11" 220lb, 45 chest) and if it's anything like the pursuit vest, the XXL would be way too long.
They size an XXL for a 6'2" person, just wish they'd have a their sizes set for body types and included "tall" sizes for taller folks.
Super nice vest though.
