Carhartt Insulated Shoreline Jacket Reviews:

This is a fantastic jacket. I have owned previous Carhartt waterproof breathable jackets, and although a few elements were removed from this jacket, a few nice elements were also added. Added: A cord pass-through from the vertical pocket on the front to the interior so you can store your music player and listen to tunes. Another nice new feature, is the cuffs. Before, they were regular cuffs, like any jacket, the same length all the way around with Velcro closure and spandex on the inside for a snug fit. I walk with a cane, and previous versions always hit my cane handle. This Shoreline version, the cuffs are cut so they are higher in the my case, no longer hitting my cane handle. Very nice touch. Velcro and spandex still included. Also added to the snaps are rubber/plastic covers (I don't think they're removable), to keep rain off the snaps. Very nice. The music player pocket is not tricot/faux-fur lined, so I personally will keep my iPhone in a case while in the pocket. The hood still fits like Carharrt hired Sloth from The Goonies to be the fit model. My previous jacket was a size Large, but I'm fat, so I went with an XL. Unlike other jackets that are the right length but are 2 snug around my stomach area, this jacket has an enormous amount of breathing room. Just the way I like it. Plus, it's longer than my previous jacket. The small storm flap and awesome waterproof zipper from previous version are gone. Now what appears to be a waterproof zipper, but different. Zipper pulls are for sure cheaper. Overall, it's another fantastic jacket by one of my favorite brands that makes products that last: Carhartt.

Update to previous review: I meant to say the vertical pocket for your iPhone, etc (that use to have storm flap/waterproof zipper, now has different waterproof zipper than previous version of waterproof breathable jackets, and little storm flap is gone. Jacket is very warm, although I do wear a neck gaiter (sold separately) with the jacket when it's really cold out). Upgrading from a large to an XL, I still think Carharrt should make the chin area (when all the way zipped up) roomier.
