Carhartt Quilted-Flannel-Lined Sandstone Active Jacket Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

I have had one of these jackets for 8 years running. One jacket for 8 years. I have known other jackets that have lasted as long as this one, but they were fancy $300+ jackets only worn while coaching the new racers out on the mountain. Meanwhile, this one is a pure workhorse.
Four of most of those years, I wore it everyday at the local ski hill training from first chair to last run and on my evening work shift lugging gates, fencing, dead trees, timing wire, running sleds and and moving snowguns. Sure, the color has faded, it has some wear in the shoulders and a few grease stains, but no tears, stitching is still rock solid and just as warm as the day I bought it.
Not waterproof by any means. I have worn this jacket in the rain many times, and I have to say, it is a sponge. But it usually provides enough of a barrier to keep you dry long enough to get stuff done.
Long story short, its your all-purpose tool in your jacket toolbox. You can't go wrong owning one of these.

My father is a mechanic that works outside in cold weather all day. This jacket keeps him warm through Pennsylvania winters. Enough said!!
He's about 6'2" and he wears an XL. The arms fit him perfectly and the body is cut for extra layering. He usually wears a hoodie inside and throws on the jacket for outside work. The body is spacious so he has plenty of room for that extra layer or two when it's really cold. The jacket also takes the oil, gas and dirt he works in all day without problem. The material is very durable for less tearing which is important when you're elbow deep in an engine all day.
Heavily endorsed by DAD!

Had this jacket for a few months now and it's still my favorite jacket. I use it as a commuting, everyday jacket. It has the best pockets - they are roomy and in the perfect spot. If you're looking for a warm, burly, good looking jacket, this is it!
I'm 6'4" tall, 200 lbs. and I'm wearing a XL. The length is perfect, arms just long enough to put my hands inside when it's chilly. It's still fairly bulky in the stomach though. This would fit someone with a BIG belly very well.

I am so impressed by this Carhartt jacket. With winter taking hold I have just a little yard work left to take care of and I wouldnt want to work in my ski jacket. The active jacket is a great piece for getting dirty and gettin er done. My garage is cold but houses all my tools, and without my carhartts I would be stuck inside with my wife like a scared turtle.

We got this for our college student son for Christmas. We had such a mild winter here in Utah that I can't really say it's been tested in the cold, but he has liked the jacket and found it comfortable enough to wear all over the place. There's nothing flimsy about it, so it should last for a long time.

I bought three of these Jackets for my brothers and they love them, and the best part is that they're not overly expensive! and they keep you warm no matter what you're doing... the only downside is that they're not waterproof. but they still get the job done on a cold winer's day.

i really love his jacket, i makes me feel so good, i really like wearing this to work, because i can leave it in my car, then when i come out in negative degree weather i put i on and it gets me warm before my car even gets turned on.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he is thrilled with it. He had a tan one previously that lasted him for years, so I bought him a black one this time. It fits him comfortably, is very warm and he wears it every day and loves it!

Jerseygirl84 at Backcountry.com on 01/05/2013

Gave this jacket to my father for Christmas this year - and he loves it. A true Carhartt jacket, it's extremely durable and rugged, while having the utility of a great winter coat - very warm. Fits true to size.

Whether racing by the barbed-wire fence on the four-wheeler or reaching through the fence to feed, the Carhartt performs like a champ, resisting and keeping you warm, too. It's the workhorse of the jacket world!

Neutral Reviews:

I wanted a nice jacket that would stand the cold and rain. That it did well. The size Large, has the body a little too large. Also I like pockets to put all my gear, but it only has 4, 2 outside and 2 inside chest. The finish is good for casual but not nice to go out.
Overall rating is just okay. My wife is not crazy about it.

Maurice at Backcountry.com on 03/12/2007

This jacket is super warm and has all of the quality that you would expect from a Carhartt product. I was unfortunately not able to find a size that worked for me. I am a large in most jackets and the large in this jacket fit my torso great but the sleeves were too short.

Chris Yates at Backcountry.com on 11/15/2012

They need to make sizes for big and tall. I had to different family members try this jacket on to try to find it a home and the sleeves were too short for both. Normally I love carhartt apparel very durable.
