Light weight and easy to place on wading belt and forget about it till you need it. Snaps out to useable form quickly and is plenty sturdy to help you stay standing in some of the swiftest waters. Only issue was it is a little difficult to get the separated to fold again but it wouldn't be sturdy otherwise. I'm going to try a little wax on the joints next time, I suspect that will not impact the performance yet make the sections come back apart easier. Get one if you don't have one, it may just keep you dry or save your life by keeping you sure footed.
This was a great purchase for me since I'm not getting any younger. It proved to be helpful for keeping my balance when tippy toeing around rocky creek bottoms in pursuit of trout. I don't know how much weight it can take on it, but I don't need to put a lot on it. It is also helpful to use out of the water when stepping over rocks where rattlesnakes might be resting. I'd rather have the staff startle them than my foot.
The wading staff is reasonably priced and works very well. It provides needed stability and comes together quickly. Recently in Colorado, it allowed me to get to places to fish that I would not have attempted without it. The pouch could have been a different color than royal blue (olive, black, etc), but the staff is a great product!
This staff in hand or in it's holster will help you keep your footing or gain it back after you trip or fall in a hole. If you wade, you will do the Crappie flop eventualy unless you have a wading staff in hand.
