Forty degrees seems really cold, especially for those of us in a desert where the temperature hovers in the high 80s right through October. But, if you live anywhere else, Jack Frost is coming. If you are out riding and working up a sweat, you want a layer that blocks the wind while not being so warm that you overheat. The Castelli Poggio Jacket is the perfect weight jacket to accomplish just this.
Castelli used a multi-paneled design in the Poggio, not just to streamline fit and help the jacket conform to your body while you are in riding position, but to take advantage of the properties of several fabrics. For example, its Windstopper X-Lite stretch fabric was placed in the front panels. This fabric is not only windproof, it also is water resistant to help keep you protected from splash when you get stuck on the wheel of a rider who refuses to use a fender. On the back panels, Castelli used Warmer, a soft, stretch fleeced material that helps to wick excess moisture away from your skin to keep you dry.
The Poggio also features a flip-up Thermoflex collar to keep the chill out and a full length cam-lock zipper that does not slip down when you unzip a few inches for ventilation during a steep climb. A jacquard gripper elastic seals cold out while keeping the jacket from riding up. And, because Castelli knows that you will most likely shed a few layers, such as ear warmers, during your ride, they included three large back pockets. A reflective front logo and reflective back tabs were added for low-light visibility.
The Castelli Poggio Jacket is available in six sizes from Small to XXX-Large. It comes in the colors: White/black/red, White/deep blue/green fluo, Black/anthracite, and Black/anthracite/yellow fluo.
