Castelli Mortirolo Jersey - Short-Sleeve Reviews:

Sweet, Sweet, Sweet

Nice jersey. I bought two, Black/Gray & Gray/Acid Green, jerseys on Bonktown for $42.99/. What a deal. I like the fit. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the non-gripper sleeves. They are working for me. A nice touch. The full length zipper makes getting in and out with ease (most of my jerseys are now full length zippers. I also like the fact that Castelli has come out with jerseys that are SPF rated. These are SPF 45. That’s what made me finally push the button. The colors will work with about anything I have. The fit is a little more sung than other Castelli jerseys I have. All of my jerseys are large in size and this cut is a little tighter. Not a bad thing for me. It feels good. The jersey length is good. It doesn’t ride up while on the bike. It’s a good fit all around on me. I will be using these two jerseys a lot. I’m 5’-8” (172cm) 154 lbs, 39” (99cm) chest, 33” (84cm) waist.

Order at least one size up

I normally wear an XL jersey so I figured I would be smart and order the XXL. This jersey has a very euro fit, so a 3XL might have been better. The 2X is wearable, just slim and short. As others have said, the arms do not have elastic, but in my case, that actually was a good thing. The sleeves fit perfectly.

Love Castelli

I bought the size small and it feels true to size I am 5'3' 129lbs. Some have said Castelli feels weird in the arm pits and chest when standing straight up. I have found the same thing but realized the jersey was designed for riding a bike and not walking. It feels great when I am riding.

Great but size up

I like the jersey a lot. The material is great, it fits well and looks sick. Size up. I normally wear L sometimes even M. This is the only XL peace of clothing I have ever owned! Yeah there is basically no elastic in the arms but although I am skinny it still seems to fit tight.

Different than other Castelli Jerseys

I own two other castelli jerseys and this one fits a little differently. It is a little shorter than the others that I own and a very little smaller in size but I did not think i needed to order a size larger. Love Castelli products and wouldn't try wasting my money elsewhere.

Nice Jersey.

I like the look of this kit, though the jersey is different material, and a slightly different colour than the bibs. Decent fit, though with all the hype about how Castelli runs small, I still feel like my large jersey is baggy in places. And pockets droop... Pet peeve.

Believe them - size up

I'm 5'10, 170 lbs, 41/42 jacket size and I had to go with an XL. Ordered a large also and it was just way to small. Arms weren't a problem but I could see that they could be if you're on the thinner side. Overall great jersey.

Tight fit!

I got the entire Grey/Acid Green outfit on Bonktown and the Jersey was way too tight at a size Large. I would recommend ordering a size or two up. Other than that, it looks great and I have a larger one on the way!

Great design!

I picked this jersey up 1 size larger than what I purchase my Tee's, fit is great. I ordered black/cyan and the color comes at more of a black/light blue, no real biggie just would rather have seen it listed as that.

One of my favorites

I really like the grey/acid green color and this jersey fits great, the zippers don't pucker, it breathes well and holds up great. The lack of elastic around the arms is brilliant!

Negative Reviews:

Can't decide if it's race cut or club cut.

This showed up at my doorstep yesterday. It's going back in the post today. I'm 5'5", @125lbs, so I ordered the small. Jersey seems well constructed, although the zipper was a little finicky. Torso was nice and snug, cut of the sleeves felt good when in a riding position. Very much what I'd consider race cut. But the cuffs? The cuffs at the ends of the sleeves were loose. Flappy. Like a club cut jersey. Not like any other Castelli jerseys I own (this was the first of the Podium series that I tried). Or any other race cut jerseys I own. Come on people, I'm a cyclist. I have skinny arms.

Really wanted to like this jersey, but...

The sizing - just awful. Ordered an XL, way too tight up top for a 42" chest. Fit well below and was a good length. Exchanged it for a XXL, fit great up top but...it was big, no...huge, no...ENORMOUS on the bottom in length and width. Maybe if my waist was 37" and had a really long torso, but I'm normal, 6' tall, 33 inch waist, 178lbs.
The material is really nice, the jersey is made and finished well and I'm sure the material would make me feel sexier than I am. Bummer I have to return this.

Not a great buy

As one of the other reviewers said, there is no elastic in the arm of this at all. The material is nice but the jersey wears exactly like a t-shirt. I might keep it for mountain biking, but even though I have the matching bibs (which I love,) I certainly won't be wearing this jersey out on road rides.

JD at RealCyclist.com on 12/04/2010

Does not fit right!

I understand that castelli designs their jerseys to fit in riding position, but this is ridiculous! Graphics are good, but it is way too tight in the armpits. Had to return it. Personally, I like jerseys that are comfortable to wear while riding but also when I'm off the bike.

Neutral Reviews:

Funky shirt - good and bad

This shirt's a little odd. First, it looks awesome. But, the Black / Cyan version isn't black. It's this dark purplish slate. Second, the sleeves are a bit tight through the pits and gap up. It's possibly part of being straight cut (as someone else mentioned) and not diagonal cut. It is also short. I'm 5'10", 180lbs (lean and mean, naturally ; ) ), and of pretty torso:leg ratios, and these comments are for the Large. Through the torso, I probably though I could have used a medium, but the pits would be ridiculously tight. The sleeves aren't such a big deal, but I could see how they would be annoying if my arms were a bit skinnier.
Then, there's the issue of the kit itself. This shirt does not appear to match the bib at all. The colors are completely off. Second, if I take a deep break, there definitely a bit of skin peeking out. Probably not an issue while riding, but I bought this kit to look cool both on and off the bike.

Size up was too big!

So in American bike jerseys I'm typically size L. In Castelli I usually go XL. From the comments here, and my past experience, I ordered XL, and it is too big! I exchanged for size L, and while the jersey fit better in general, now the problem of the arm holes being too high is REALLY obvious. Man, what a good-looking jersey too! Just doesn't fit right. The parts I don't love about this jersey are the sleeves - that they're set in (instead of raglan) and that they're floppy at the ends like a T-shirt.
I had to change the star rating down to three because the fit problem isn't in the sizing, apparently.

Pretty good kit except for 2 things...

I happen to like the whole matching kit but I was kinda hoping at least the colors would match much better. I bought the grey/acid green kit and once again true to what others have said the top do not actually match the bottom. The top is a darker grey than the bottom. And it was a bit tight around the armpits when I first wore it but after a wash it fitted well. Other than that it would adequately well for me in terms of helping commute from my home to work. No complaints with the sizing charts here.

Elastic stretches

Great looking kit, however the elastic on the arms and neck appear to be stretching and becoming loose. I take great care with my gear so am a little disappointed, but it definitely is a cool kit.
