Great leash!

I've had this leash for over 2 years, and it still works just as great as the day I bought it! I like the clip they used (to attach to my dog's harness), and the webbing that makes up the leash is thick and durable. Before this leash, we went through 2 other leashes in a very short period of time, but we haven't had any problems with this one.

Re: the buckle problem that someone else mentioned-- never had that issue, hopefully it was just a fluke for that user. However, when I do tie my dog up outside a store (I don't recommend it, but sometimes you just have to have a cup of coffee), I do tie the leash around the post/whatever and then use the handy buckle feature, just for added security.

Plesantly Surprised

I'm an avid Chaco fan, and I've been shopping for a matching collar/leash for my 18 month old black lab, as well as a hands free leash for running. I ordered this one along with the collar in zeal-- beautiful and fun color and pattern for a female dog. I also ordered a separate hands free leash, thinking this was just a normal 6ft lead, but was pleasantly surprised to find that this leash fits the "hands free" bill, too. It has a loop near the dog incase you need to bring them in close to you. The only downside I forsee is there is no give in the leash, so that might allow your dog to jerk you around while running. Some people might be annoyed by the clip if they're using the leash in their hand.

Couldn't be happier!

So happy with this leash. I thought about getting a running leash that attaches to you for years, and now I wish I had bought one the first time I knew they were available. My dog listens well to commands so she doesn't not pull me all over as I first feared. When she does (see's a praire dog), the leash pull evenly across my entire mid section which is easy to control. This has made training easier since I have a high energy dog who likes to run as hard as I do and never wants to stay home.

All in One

I've had the leash for a couple weeks and impressed so far. Comfortable on bare skin and in winter gloves at the end of the season. I really like knowing I have a way to secure our dog if I need to stop along the walk. It is lighter than our previous leash, but I think that is good so there is less weight on the Halti.

Awesome Leash!

This is the best leash! The buckle system is very useful. You can easily attach leash to your waist, objects, backpack or around your wrist. This is a very versatile leash, perfect for everyday use or for outdoor adventures.
I also love the colors that are available. I also have the matching collar, which my dog loves!

Unique wrist loop

The wrist loop on this leash is adjustable in size and opens up with a quick release buckle. This allows you to clip it around your waist, a fence post, a tree, etc. Cool, huh?

Negative Reviews:

Handy Idea, Poor Quality

I owned this product for two months and loved it. I'd sworn off Chaco Dog products (more on that later), but this was on sale at REI and the idea was too great to pass up.

You have no idea how convenient having an adustable-sized loop with a buckle on it is until you've tried it. It allows hands-free handling of my dog, which is a revelation. I could run with my dog officially on leash, but it feels like I'm running leash free. I could easily clip it to any stationary object, and adjust the size of the leash to allow my dog more or less movement. I could train with the leash looped over my shoulder, so I could drop the leash to give him treats or correct him using both hands.

Really, its a great idea. So why did I return it?

The reason I was hesitant to buy it in the first place was that the plastic buckle on my Chaco collar had jammed so badly I had to cut it off my dog. To Chaco's credit, they responded within minutes of my complaint, apolgizing and offering to replace it immediately.

When I saw this leash, I was hesitant because of the buckle, but I decided that the previous situation might have been a fluke, and even if it wasn't, a jammed buckle on a leash wasn't so bad.

Fast forward to today, when I had to cut the leash off a lamp post because, once again, the buckle jammed so badly three other people weren't able to get it to come loose. My dog used to be a bad puller, but he learned a good heal before I even bought this leash, so it's not like it's been abused. Maybe I'm just getting all the bad equipment, but I'm two-for-two on buckle failures, so I'm done.

Chaco still makes a great sandle. They should stick with that.
