Pleasantly Surprised
I wanted a canvas style shoe from Chaco, but REI isn't selling them. I saw another site that did, but wondered if this brand of shoe would even work for me. I decided to take advantage of REI's great return policy. The plan was I would buy these to check size and fit, then return them and find someplace else to buy the canvas ones. I put these on, and all I could say was, "WOW"! These shoes are GREAT! They have more arch support than Birkenstock shoes. They are so comfy. The leather is supple and good quality. I have a lot of foot problems and always require a break-in period. NOT with THESE! I put them on and didn't want to take them off. I have been wearing them in the slush and snow for the past 3 days. They are waterproof and take whatever you put them through. I absolutely love these shoes. They look like they'll last a long time because they are such good quality. I'm glad, because I don't think I'd ever want to give them up. Now, if REI will just start stocking the canvas ones, I'd be set for life. Oh, and by the way, the sale price on these is amazing! Buy them before they are gone!
Love these shoes!
I bought these shoes because my Chaco sandals were the only shoes I could wear that helped with my plantar fasciitis. I was so happy to find these close toed Chacos and I have thrown all of my other shoes away and only wear Chacos.
Definitely Worth Trying
One review when I purchased these shoes. It was very favorable and I agree. Strap seems odd, but the slide closure is easy to use and shoe on/off is quick. I usually use special insole but not necessary in these shoes.
Very comfy shoes
The size I usually wear 5 1/2 was too big, had to send back for smaller size. Proper feels great!Most comfortable shoes I have ever worn!!

high quality yet not for narrow feet
So sad... I have come to love my Chacos. I have a pair of sandals that led me to buying boots. I love them both and was looking for something for the intermediate seasons that I could wear with jeans or slacks.
Sadly with my on-the-narrow side foot, this shoe does not work for me. When I strap it down to hold my foot in place, the leather at the top of the arch gaps inappropriately.
It also felt a bit too large in sizing. I usually wear a 9.5, but with this shoe a 9 would be better.
Otherwise, it looks like for 'most' people, this would be a great shoe - well built, stylish...
