I'm a relative newbie to the Chaco scene; I've been wearing my first-ever pair for the past year and a half. I was hesitant when I first put them on; the very prominent arch tempted me to send them back. I'm SO glad I didn't. After the initial break-in period (a week or so), the sandals get a nice better-than-barefoot feel. The fit is so very customizable--which comes in handy on long backpacking trips when one's feet start to swell. I take an 8.5 or 9 in trail runners, but the Chaco women's 8 works for me. I've learned to keep them nice and loose, and I don't have to worry about chafing or blisters.

| Comfortable shoe! I was very pleased to find that the straps on this shoe are completely adjustable. As I wear a narrow, I was able to snug them up to my size. At first I snugged the straps too tight but once I loosened them a tad, I found I could wear them all day without thinking about them. The textured footbed seems a little odd at first, but is easy to get used to; and there is pretty good arch support. I always wear a sandal 1/2 size smaller than my "closed" shoe size; and these fit perfectly when I ordered an 8 instead of my usual 8 1/2. I did a little hiking in them and found them very comfortable. They stay on very well and in fact I now wear them on the treadmill instead of athletic shoes! I had tried on a Teva before buying these but there was a piece of plastic holding the straps in place near the toe that was really uncomfortable. I've had compliments on my new Chacos and have become a fan! | |

Chaco Z/1 Unaweep Sandal - The Standard for Outdoor Performance Sandals

You really can't go wrong with the Chaco Z series of sandals. The Z/1 is where it all started, and my personal preference is for this single strap design without the loop around your toe so you can wear them with socks. I also sized up so I could wear thick wool socks after a day of backpacking. Other than that, I'd say these run true to size, and are good for average to narrow width feet. Except for the heel strap, all of the straps can be adjusted for a customized fit, and there's a handy diagram inside the lid of the box so you know what order to pull them in. The Vibram soles will last a long time, and you can even send these back to Chaco to get resoled and have other repairs. These are some of the most supportive sandals out there, and they are well worth the money. You'll have them and love them for years!

My husband's been wearing Chacos for a few years now and loves them. He's one of those types that wears sandals everywhere...to church, to mow the grass, skiing (well they made him put on boots but before and after he had Chaco's and Teko Merino wool socks in the 15F weather!). He recently bought me a pair of Z/1s, they were my first pair of Chacos. We haven't done any major backpacking yet, but we hiked a fairly technical trail in Florida a few weeks ago while wearing Chacos and they were awesome. Incredibly durable and comfortable. I see why he's hooked.

Great sandals for work or play

I recently received a new pair of Chaco Colorado sandals for my birthday. My family thought it was a great gift for me, since I have worn my previous pair for about 7 years several times a week from spring until fall. They are very comfortable and the best part is when you are walking around in the rain they won't slip around on your feet!! I love gardening, they are perfect for that, too. My old pair will still be used, they have plenty of wear left. For me, these shoes have been a joyful part of my life. I have a lot of foot problems and they have helped me hike in Canada, shop in Mexico, canoe in Kentucky, walk on the beaches in Florida, and take my grandsons on many adventures.

| Super comfortable! I wear size 5.5 in sandals and had tried a 6 and they were way too big, so I decided to order the 5 from Zappos since it was the only place that I could find size 5, not to mention the great price! They were quite comfortable out of the box, with the exception of the inner part of the ankle where the straps come together, but it was a minor annoyance that eventually went away with wear. I walked around all day in these and my feet felt fine! The only complaint is that the strap is way too long once I have everything the way I want it, I have to tuck it back in and make a funky little "knot" to keep it out of the way. | |

simply the best adventure sandal

| These are the best adventure sandals out there. Whoever came up with the idea of just strapping a Vibram sole to your foot - the most durable sole out there - deserves a medal. They are simple and perform beautifully - stay on your feet in difficult situations, provide great traction, and lightweight comfort. The straps come in great colors to match your style. Cons: your mileage will probably vary, but I've found that I get some blisters from the straps being placed a little narrowly on the shoe. I also have some trouble adjusting the straps - it takes some force! I sometimes stumble on steep downhills - they don't provide much stability. Finally, I wish they were responsibly made. But overall, I'd never go anywhere without my Chacos. | |

| I bought a pair of these sandals for my daughter so she could wear them in Australia. She wore them around the house and up and down the block before she went. The dogs sniffed them and gave them two paws up. Right now she is in Australia trekking through the outback, surfing the coastal waves, and snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, not all at the same time however. Through all of this, she never once called home to complain that her sandals were giving her trouble. Neither did the sandals run away. I respect that in a sandal. I am very pleased with their performance. When she gets home, we expect her to spend the rest of the summer walking the dogs, cleaning their poop, and mowing | |

| i have heard rave reviews on these sandals for a long time, and after my best friend just got back from spending 2 years in africa and wearing these shoes everyday in the desert, i decided to give them a try! the straps are fun and easy to adjust, and they are relatively lightweight on the foot, despite being super durable and strong. i ran through the rain in them today, and my feet didn't slip at all! i thought the sizing would be tricky, because i normally wear a 9 1/2, and it seems as they don't come in half-sizes. however, i went with the 9 and they are GREAT! i can't wait to wear them to africa next summer, and everyday until then! | |

I thought that the new design of these Chacos would provide the comfort and reliability that the original Chaco Sandals provided. After receiving these shoes, Womens Size 8, I felt that they were flimsy and were nothing like the original Chacos that I have owned for 5 years. I promptly returned the Chacos and they handled my return in a professional manner.

| I have two pair of Chaco Z-1 sandals, which I have loved for years and wear everywhere, even on mountain hikes because they have more arch support and comfort than any other shoe, including my hiking boots. So, I ordered another pair recently from Zappos (just another color, aqua marine), and it has a different sole (which I did want to try), but it is not comfortable at all. The strap is far too long, the sole has little arch support, the shoe does not conform to my foot, and my feet actually hurt when I wear them. I was wondering if these were imitation Chacos, or if perhaps Chaco sold to a new company and they are now making a look-a-like shoe? I cannot explain it, and cannot explain why these feel nothing at all like my two other beloved sandals. I will wear these for looks only, but not for hiking or outdoor use (as they were intended). It is a shame! | |

| Cute boots! I fell in love with these because they had a similar silhouette to a much more expensive pair of boots that I am crazy about. They are comfortable since they have a very low, stable heel. Yet there is almost no ankle support here. The quality of the boot is sort of average. The leather looks like it might not hold up. I had a choice between these (the more expensive boot) and I decided to go with the pricier brand (Via Spiga) and Im glad I did because the quality of those is vastly better. If you want the latest trend and dont want to pay a lot for it, then these are great. | |

Bought them for a trip to Fiji. They're comfortable, they fit well. But I wouldn't wear them in sand ever again. Trying to do a hike on beach, wading, then heading up on rocks wasn't worth it with the amount of sand in the sandal. I think I would have rather worn my Chacos flip-flops.
