Better than my Tevas | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I bought these to travel around Vietnam for two weeks. It was very, very hot and humid. Some downpours and they left you wet and with some serious puddles to deal with. Knowing that was likely what I was in for before I left, I researched sport sandals and decided on these rather than my usual Tevas. Part of that decision is because I had to buy online as there are no stores near me that sell Chaco or a decent selection of Teva. Meaning, I couldn't try shoes on for comfort and fit before purchasing them. I didn't want to deal with return either. Because these sandals are so adjustable to your foot, I thought I would try them (and maybe not have to do a return). I was right!

finally blister free | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I am blister prone...I have never found a pair a boots or sneakers that didn't cause blisters, even with all the duct tape and moleskin in the world. When it came time to pack for a recent backpacking trip, I was a little worried about footwear since there was going to be a good amount of hiking involved. Since we were going somewhere warm (Havasupai) I decided to bring my Chacos. For me, they're the ultimate shoe. I can wear them around town, hiking and in the water. They're easy to rinse off (Havasupai is super sandy) and easy to get on and off. 32 miles later, I still had happy, blister free feet! You may not want to do the same if you have weak ankles or something, but I have to say...I am thrilled. My only complaint about these shoes is that when you're walking in a river with lots of little rocks on the bottom, you will get some in between your foot and the shoe and that can be a pain.

I use my ZX/1 sandals as my primary hiking footwear AND travel footwear! They're stylish enough for around town (large cities excepted) and if I take an impromptu hike they stay on my feet much better than my Birkenstocks.

This new version of Chaco sandals just arrived and I'm wearing them now. My first pair of Chacos was way back in '98 after a white water rafting trip in Durango. Total pairs owned are 7-each with a different configuration. My favorites are without a toe loop so I can wear them with socks right until the first snowfall. After wearing them all summer, I can't seem to give them up. Figuring out the straps is the first step towards bonding with your new sandals. I'll admit, these are more difficult to figure out than the single strap models, but from now on will need minor adjustments. I love Chacos, my doctor loves them and recommends them to anyone with plantar faciitis-but please don't call them orthopedic unless you want the tax deduction. And Chaco has excellent customer service should you need new straps or soles. They are worth the time to get the straps right-and they are extremely durable-so far only my very first pair has worn out, the rest I have to color coordinate with different outfits and I always get comments. Can you tell I LOVE CHACOS!?!

Almost perfect | |

I've been wearing Chacos for years and absolutely love them. The arch support in the foot-bed is great for my flat feet, and they're comfortable to walk around in all day. The only problem I've had with this pair is that the straps aren't staying adjusted - they loosen somewhat as I walk, and I just keep adjusting them. This is my first pair of Unaweeps without the toe-loop, and I wonder if the one fewer strap means that there's less friction and thus less of a hold.

| I got these about a month ago. They were super comfy from the get go. I got a blister the first time I wore them, then realized I had them too tight. Now I wear them comfortably loose. I just went on a 4 day trip to Colorado and used these while hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, and the entire weekend I was in Colorado. I absolutely loved them! Best sandals ever! If I could sleep in them, I probably would! They offer the best arch support of any sandal I have ever worn. So for someone with flat feet, these are perfect! I do not have wide feet by any means; however, for a more comfortable fit, I bought the wide. I also wear a 10.5, and sized down to a 10 and they fit perfect! | |

LOVED THESE!!!! I am a bit in between sizes, though I run more towards going up a size, rather than down. I also have medium width feet. For those like me, I would recommend going UP if in between sizes, rather than down. I would also recommend a wide width, verses the normal width.

"chacos are the best - buy several pairs - tan lines will always match up."
| Rating: | ![]() |
| love my new chacos. Why? because this is my third pair and the tan lines on my feet match up no matter what pair I wear. Tried to attach a photo of my foot - wont let me do that - would love to share it. I wear them every day to photo studio I work in where I stand on concrete floors all day long, I wear them biking, kayaking, gardening, walking - everywhere - doing everything except dancing - not good for that - and I hate it when it gets too cold in Minnesota to wear sandals. I refuse to wear socks with sandals so that cuts the season a little short. | |

| These sandals are great, especially if you wear orthotics and need arch support. I have a collapsing arch due to too many sports injuries and have been going crazy unable to wear sandals when my physical therapist told me about these. They are great; a little tricky to adjust the straps at first but read the "how to" on the box and you'll do just fine. The strap below the buckle is a little long, but a cobbler can fix you right up! I'm looking forward to trying Chaco shoes and boots. Zappos was great as usual, too! You won't be disappointed. | |

| Best shoes for summer - I originally bought these with the help of Zappos' outdoor shoe advisors for a trip to Australia where we'd be walking on various types of terrain. They were perfect for that trip- tough, sturdy, comfortable and pretty cute for athletic sandals. Now I'm back home in New York City and still love them. They are not soft and cushy, but so comfortable and perfect for the beach, the city - anywhere. I have bunions, too, and the way you can adjust them insures they are never hitting anything painful. I would recommend these to anyone! | |

| The concept sounded phenomenal. The reality was a nightmare! I wear an 11 4A sized shoe and I live in adjustable athletic sandals during the summer. For years Ive worn Tevas, but after a few summers of watching people wearing daintier looking Chacos, I decided to give them a try. They look adorable and are comfy. The HUGE problem I had is that the adjustable straps didnt lock in place once I had adjusted them to suit my super narrow/skinny needs. As I walked, they got tighter around the toes. I gave them about 6 long & short walks with the same result each time. Their last chance was 7 days ago. They caused so much damage to my left foot that Im currently wearing an extra-large bandage to cover the area when I must wear shoes. | |

blisters | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
The sandals had great support, but I wasn't prepared for the rubs that caused horrible blisters on various places on my feet because of the straps. I felt they were adjusted correctly, but still made blisters. I had to bandage my feet constantly, thus plan to send the sandals back.

| Really wanted to like these, but regret the purchase. I first ordered a size 9 and couldn't get it to fit comfortably so I tried the 9 wide (I'm not usually a wide). These are also not fitting correctly. If I get the straps on my feet to fit correctly, the back strap that wraps the heel is still too big (not adjustable) and my shoes smack against my feet as if I am wearing flip flops (drives me crazy). I got the straps fitting somewhat okay (after an hour) and after camping where the shoes got wet and dry a few times I had to re-adjust the straps, which took another hour. I honestly think the pull through straps area is a good idea in theory, but for me they are a nightmare. I can't seem to ever get them right and when I do they become ill fitting again after just a little walking. Tevas are MUCH better. Oh, had a great experience with Zappos customer service on the original exchange... | |

| After hearing all the hype over chaco z/1 sandals, I finally decided to get a pair. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. They run large, and I could never get the support to contour to my foot. The ankle straps were also somewhat weird. I never really felt comfortable in the shoe, so I've only worn them a few times. Perhaps it's just me. I didn't give up on Chacos as a whole though! I bought the Zongs a few months later, and absolutely love those. So I guess which type of Chaco model really depends on the person. Good company though. | |

| I have very wide feet and wear anything from a 7.5 to a 9 to get enough width. I tried an 8 wide in these and found them to be super comfortable until my foot started sliding and I got terrible, terrible blisters. No amount of strap adjusting would help. So half sizes should consider sizing down or at least wearing them around the house for a long, long time before deciding to keep them. I'm a bit afraid to try the smaller size. It's a shame because the arch support really is incredible. | |

| Good Concept, But... The concept of adjustable straps is good, especially for wide feet like mine. Unfortunately, the piece that holds up the strap around the ankle cut into my foot enough that it would have caused blisters. Also, the adjustable ankle strap was extremely long and was ugly flapping about. I wish these would have worked for me, as they're the only "athletic" sandals I've seen in a wide width. :-( | |

| Beware - I had high hopes for these sandals. They provided excellent support. But...the footbed is very rough. After about a day of walking in NYC in these, I got huge blisters on the soles of my feet. I was in so much pain. These may be better suited for nature/water uses. | |
