Light weight yet durable, rugged, and sturdy. I wanted a light-weight yet durable engineer boot and Chippewa delivered. The most outstanding characteristic of these boots is the facts that theyre tough and rugged yet don't weigh the wearer down. Too many boots are so heavy they make the wearer tired just lugging them around all day. That's not a problem with these. The quality is obvious from the moment one opens the box. I can't stress enough how relieving it's been to find a great boot that doesn't wear out my knees because of their weight. But don't mistake light-weight for cheap, shoddy, or flimsy. The fact that they're of such high quality yet avoid being unnecessarily heavy like so many competitors boots is a testament to their fine design and craftsmanship. They run a little tight and look a little narrow compared to other boots I've owned (and I have a narrow foot) and they're not much for comfort without an insole (I use an over-the-counter gel version) but they're definitely a great buy. I've had 'em for a month and think it'll take at least another couple of months of nearly daily wear to break them in fully but I don't see myself having to buy another pair of boots for years. I'm very pleased.

Great Boot - I spent a long time trying to find a replacement for my old engineer boots. I bought the pair I wanted to replace in 1990 from the Sears catalog. I never did find something that matched the old pair exactly, but these were the best replacement i have found yet. I tried Chippewa, Georgia, Frye, and Carolina boots (the Carolina's were also very good). While all had their merits, for me this was the sturdiest, light-weight engineer boot of the bunch. I would definitely recommend this boot to someone who wanted a good US made, everyday, walking around engineer boot. I liked it because it fit a little snugger, like a western boot than most. The only change I would recommend, is I like the over foot strap to ride a little lower than this one does...but that's a small cavite. Just as a note, many engineer boots -- even the pair I was replacing fit larger than marked, the Chippewas on the other hand seem true to size.

Good boots, could be better - First of all these Chippewas are pretty exactly the boot I was looking for in a motorcycle boot. They have the classic engineer style and are completely functional. They grab onto the road like nobody's business and the heel provides a perfect placement on the pegs. I chose this one instead of the steel toe version because in my experience with steel toes, they leave your toes icy, which is definitely bad, especially on long cold rides. The only problem is my shifting has formed a bit of a dent on the toe area, which would have been avoided with steel toes. I have compensated in my shifting to combat the problem, but I might have been happier with the steel toe version, especially since it is not much more expensive and I live in California where my long cold rides are fairly limited.

GREAT Boot - Gotta tell you, I love this boot. VERY functional with great looks. It was a choice between Chippewa's Harness Boot and the Engineer Boot. I went for all around comfort that I could walk in, work, and play in... that'd be this one. I like the looks... It's industrial looking without too much of the cowboy look (I live in the city). The leather is thick but buttery soft and not shiny or shinable. There is no in-sole so I went for a half size larger and threw a pair of arch-support soles in and bingo. The heel and bottoms have great traction on all surfaces (another reason I did not go with a cowboy style). I was sold on the other comments, made in USA, the looks, and craftsmanship of the pair. If this is on your list... GET EM!

Nothing better... Looking for an engineer boot but can't decide amongst the seemingly endless choice of brands and styles? This is it. Chippewa has perfected the Engineer here and I've tried other Chippewas, Frye, Double H...you name it. Right upon opening the box I was blown away and knew I wouldn't have to buy another pair of boots for years and years to come. Zappos delivers again with service that is beyond excellent in the best looking, most comfortable boot I've had. I only wish I could give it more than five stars.

Gotta get em - Got my boots about 2 years ago and they only get better with time. These are the real deal. So if you want the finest Engineer boot money can buy, look no further. Buy these boots to fit. Don't mess around with sole inserts or the like. They fit more like cowboy boots, so if you have a high instep, you may have trouble getting them on. The oil resistant soles grip the asphalt like nobodys business. The looks speak for themselves.

Great motorcycle boots - First pair of Chippewa boots I have owned. The leather, materials and craftsmanship is superb. I was going to buy Frye boots but thought I would try these American made boots instead. I received them next day from Zappos and after seeing them for less and writing to Zappos received notice that I was being credited for the difference plus a percentage (whatever their policy is). Their service is the best, bar none.

Motorcycle boot - This is a great boot! I can't give the comfort a 5 star rating yet, as I have not worn them that much so far. The boot fits like most new boots do when you have had them on only a few times. The leather feel is great, and the boots are easy to walk in. If I were to buy a second pair, it would probably be this American-made boot.

Cool Boots!! It was my alternative to some women's boots and I tried them on today for riding on my bike! Once you got in (it's a little hard, I guess because they're new and a little stiff) they are what they've promised: great look, great feeling to wear!!!! By the way: thank you to the CS rep., packing & shipping my items!!!!!

2nd Pair I've Owned - This boot is both comfortable and looks great. I originally bought a brown pair when I was in N.Y. and often looked around shoe stores to find another pair in black. It wasn't until I found Zappos.com that I found this boot in black and many other boot styles to choose from. I will definitely come back often.
