Clam Outdoors Dave Genz Split-Grip Ice Rods -
Designed by ice-fishing legend Dave Genz , the Dave Genz Split-Grip Ice Rod series by Clam can handle larger, predatory fish with ease. The graphite-wrapped fiberglass rod with blank-through-handle construction resists the elements while increasing sensitivity, balance and fighting power for battling the toughest quarry. Graphite screw-up reel seat holds the reel firmly while eliminating the need for tape. Split-grip design improves balance while providing a sure hold to take on lake trout, pike and walleye on hard water. Large stainless steel guide frames with chromed rings help reduce freeze-up and line damage.

Great Rod

I bought a 36" MH rod for lake trout fishing. I though the 40" H was too stiff for my type of fishing. After using the rod for one season, I think it is great for a light tackle approach for lakers. I usually use 1/4 oz jig with a tube and it handles this rig well. I caught two fish over 30" last winter and the rod was bent right over it-self. All around good rod. Highly recommended.

Pulling Fish Through a Hole

This is a very nice rod, The poll has a nice rigidness to it as a medium heavy. The Screw seat for the reel sits nice and snug, with no worry of it coming undone. The cork seams to be of good quality, have not been able to test it to its fullest ability. Overall, nice rod to have in my collection.

Just the right action

I bought both a 40" and a 32" rod because i liked the action in the rod so much. I use them both while fishing through the ice, mostly for walleye, sauger, lake trout, but the action while strong enough to use on larger game fish also is sensitive enough to use on small fish as well.

Can't Hold Up

Bought this a year ago. First weekend the top eyelet got a crack in it that cut my line 2 or 3 times before I figured it out. Contacted Clam, they sent me a new one, now between the 2 end eyelets the rod is fraying. Doesn't seem like a good product to me. Very disappointed.
