Clif Shot Gel - 24 Pack Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

I love the double espresso and mocha flavors when I want caffeine in my gel. These two flavors are thinner than the Gu-brand chocolate outrage and mint chocolate. For those that complain about needing water with them... that is how they are intended, as labeled on the package: "always follow consumption with water." That is how all energy gels are intended to be consumed for proper digestion. I don't down my gels quickly: I typically have a gel over the course of an entire mile, mid-way through my long runs (after mile 5 or 6 of a 12+ mile run), squeezing out a little, having a sip of water; repeat.

I never thought of using gels until I started doing some endurance running and triathlons. They are a great way to get some quick calories into your body! they provide just the right amount of energy for you to keep chugging along!!! I do not recommend the chocolate flavor...something about it just makes me gag. Evey other flavor i highly recommend!

I prefer Clifbar. Got a handful of "double-espresso turbo" shots and they weren't half bad compared to the other stuff that we've given away at our climbing competitions. Taking a energy shot shouldn't be like taking a shot of Rum (as delicious as that sounds) , in that aspect clifbar exceeds expectations. stay energized my friends.

I HATE GELS!!!! However, if there is one that I can stomach, it's this one (citrus). These are the only gels I take on climbing trips, and while they rarely get used, I still bring them. If you have a hard time stomaching gels, these might be the ones for you. (Get's the job done)

I choose gels based on flavor. Functionality seems to be pretty uniform from brand to brand, flavors definitely are not. I love the Clif vanilla, Razz - for no caffeine and the mocha when I need the extra boost. I find the citrus and strawberry to be awful, but other people love them.

Ive been using these gels for a few months and like them. The only downside is that they are a little thick so drink lots of water with them. The mocha flavor is my favorite as it provides a little caffeine with it.

These are one of my race and training essentials. Not sure why, but they seem to have more heft than gus. Get a few caffeinated ones and some of the extra sodium and you'll be set for any race situation.

I like the citrus when its hot out and the chocolate cherry when its cold. The gels are easy to get down and taste like concentrated gatoraid when you mix them with water in your mouth.

i'm not much of a gel person, but the espresso turbo and mocha are pretty good. they're a great little pick me up for alpine starts and mid day breaks.

Negative Reviews:

My uncle and father tried these on a backpacking trip, and they could hardly get them down. They are normally the people that can eat anything, so these must have been really nasty. I'm sure some people like them, and the results you get are probably excellent, but I will personally find a different quick energy source.

Neutral Reviews:

I enjoy the Razz Sorbet and the Strawberry flavors the best out of the other choices. This gel is thick, I normally sip on water as I am eating the gel to help make it easier to take. I wouldn't choose gels for my everyday but these are a great boost of caffeine when coffee is not an option. These gels are vegan friendly!

I think this product works well, I just have not been able to find a flavor that I like to eat. I'd rather use products from Gu just because there are better flavors to select from.
