Got these for packing peanut butter/honey mix for trail snacking with melba toast. Softened butter works well too. In fact, I've liberated one tube from the camp box and now I keep my butter on the counter in a tube for convenient dispensing! The cap gasket is very thin and easily crimped because it is not affixed to the cap liner. I've also read from other reviews that the crimp clamp is not too sturdy but I have yet to have one break. I did find out the hard way that the plastic is not squirrel proof; on a campout a squirrel ate through my vest webbing and into the tube to get the yummy peanut butter/honey mix. My bad to leave it out, but yeah. Definitely recommend for camping and backpacking!
These Coghlans food squeeze tubes are great. Seems like this product has been around for about 30 years, but lately I have had a hard time finding them locally, so thank goodness for CampMor. I use the tubes for peanut butter, and with some crackers it makes a good foundation for trail lunches, including on backpacking trips. The only downside is the tubes don't last forever. I had the plastic end clip break after one season of use. So buy spares -- they're cheap!
Use these for peanut butter while backpacking. Hard to wash out if you don't have a bottle washer, so no more often than we go, when empty we just toss it out and get a new one - saves a bunch of hot water, too. (The person who has never thrown away a toothpaste tube may throw the first stone.)
I hav used the tubes for many years; but the last few years, the clips just do not last like the early ones did. I do not do a trip without a spare for every other tube. I gave some to a friend along with two spare clips.
I've had these tubes on the trail with me forever. The new ones I bought to supplement the old for a recent trip all broke. The white clips on the end of the tubes either cracked or broke apart completely. They were filled and packed no differently than the older ones.
