Cole Hersee Hatch/Door Jamb Switch in Boot SPST Review:

Handy switch for locker lighting

This is one of the handiest products I have purchased for my boat. I have mounted these switches on the doorjambs of many of the cabinets and lockers in my sailboat. I use them to switch on LED ribbon lights mounted inside the cabinets as you open the door. When my wife opens a door she now has well lit storage areas that she used to call, "black-holes".
I have wired them into the 'cabin light' circuit so even if we leave a door ajar the lights won't be left on when we turn off the breaker as we leave the boat. Most of all, we love the convenience of not feeling around in the dark to find something in a galley cabinet or hanging locker and our batteries like the reduced amp draw of the LEDs.
I gave it 4-stars because they aren't the easiest thing to mount. I made a mounting bracket by cutting an 'L' shaped piece of teak, drilling a 1/4" hole for the mounting tendon on the switch and two screw holes to attach to the inside the cabinet frame. It was a small hassle for the long term convenience of automatic locker lights!
