Perfect for intended purpose

This is a great product for it's intended use, which is transport-based camping in cold weather -- which can be anything from winter in the Sierras to summer in coastal Alaska. My eldest son, 6'4" and a guide in Alaska, uses one in his unheated basecamp cabin and loves it. I've bought 6 so far, and may buy more. It isn't a back-packing bag -- you need a horse, mule, raft, boat or car to carry it -- but it's cushy, roomy, and durable. Zippers are sturdy and easily mate two bags together into a double bag big enough for a honeymoon trip to the Arctic.

Kept me warm in 20 degree weather

I ordered this for a boy scout camp out with my son. My current 20 degree mummy bag was too claustrophobic. This was VERY roomy and kept me nice and warm in 20 degrees. Only wish it had a built in hood and draw string. I ended up crawling into it and covering my head to keep my face and head warm. Its very long , I'm 5'10" and had no issue getting completely covered from head to toe. It has very thick material. Only drawback is that it packs up very large and bulky.

Very Cozy!

I was looking for something for hunting camp where the trailer can get to 25 degrees when we sleep. I tried other sub-zero bags that were a joke and did not do well even at 35 degrees.

But this bag is much closer to the claimed rating of -5 degrees and is very cozy to sleep in. I have not tested it at -5 degrees but at +25 it works great. Very few bags, despite the claim of the manufacturer, will really be warm at -5 or some say -20.

Nice big comfy bag

This bag is great for camping but not back packing. It is a huge bag and that's why I ordered 2.One for sleeping on and the other for sleeping in and for just in case the temps dropped I was covered and snug.I like the shell material as it is {Quite} when moving around in the night.Very soft and extremely comfortable in temps 30 and above or get 2 for just in case.

A blessing for BIG GUYS!

I'm a big guy, as if you didn't know, and getting a sleeping bag that I can use 4 seasons is actually big enough so I can really be comfortable, for the price I paid is truly amazing. At my age I'm built for comfort, not for speed. Keep it up because you've got a new customer here.

Great bag

Great sleeping bag. Really warm and comfortable. Pretty heavy, so not good for backpacking. Don't care for the attached flap at the top because you cannot flip the zipper around and use it the other way. Would be better if it was detachable. But overall, a great bag at a great price.

Excellent bag

Used for couch surfing in Manhattan studio apartment with no heat. It was perfect! Very comfortable, good for people with different builds and heights etc. Very soft flannel lining. Definitely not for packing in anywhere as it's super heavy and bulky. Really well made with nice attention to details.

Big, Roomy, Warm & Soft

Well made bag that kept me warm at 20 degrees. Its soft and very roomy offers me the perfect amount of space at 6' 6". Wouldn't recommend for situations where pack space is an issue but if you camp out of your car or kayak its perfect.

Roomy and warm

I wouldn't recommend this sleeping bag for any situation where it needs to be carried along as it's quite large and bulky. But as long as you're looking for a sleeping bag that will keep you warm in cold situations, it more than does the trick.

At last, we found a sleeping bag with a zipper that opens at the foot so anyone with hot feet can have their feet open to the cool air, while the rest of them is inside a warm, zippered bag. Love this feature.

Negative Reviews:

Not as warm as advertised

I was on a hunting trip in Utah and the lowest temperature was about 32 degrees and this sleeping bag did not keep me warm like I thought it would even though it is rated to -5.
Claudie at Campmor on 10/10/2010

Not Big Enough

The size advertised was inaccurate. The actual size was smaller (i.e. 36"x78" NOT 40"x84"). The extra 4"-6" makes a difference (size matters) for us big guys.

Neutral Reviews:

Durable,Warm, roomie, needs padding

Bag is good for caming in my tent trailer but not comfortable for sleeping on my cot. Canvas shell heavy and insulating but need extra padding for comfort. I purchased this after the coleman bags that i purchased 10+ years ago burned in motorhome fire, they were the same spec's as the big game but they were more comfortable and easier to roll up. I will be purchasing memory topper for future uses

Great performance but broken handle

In short the handle of the sleeping bag that is used to hold and carry after the bag has been rolled ripped. at the end of the trip i picked the bag out of the car and the handle ripped off of the bag in my hand. outside of that everything from the ordering, shipping, and sleeping performance was 100% perfect.

-5 degree, I don't know

I don't know about the -5 rating. We just returned from high teen, mid twenties and we had to use more blankets to keep warm. We were in a 10x20 cabin that has floor and wall insulation,no other heat source, and using sleeping bag alone was very chilly! We have used bags in 30/40 degrees and that was comfortable.

Know what you are asking for.

Large fit even though it measures out less than advertised.
