Beyond Perfect.
My boyfriend and I chose to purchase a Coleman tent from Dicks instead of [@], due to the upgraded quality offered at Dicks. The tent was very easy for two adults to set up and took less than 10 minutes. Once it was set up, we were amazed at the size of it. Our queen sized air mattess looked so small. It was wonderful having all the extra room to put our things. It was great being able to stand up in a tent and get dressed. We were lucky enough not to encounter any rain while on our weekend getaway, but the rainfly covered the tent in all the right places. I am confident that if we ever do get rained on, we would stay nice and dry.The two sides, and back features a net that goes from the blue (or red) and goes all the way up. It provided plenty of air flow and we never felt that damp campy feeling in the morning. But don't worry about privacy, the rainfly covers the net. Also, having the tarp material that extends up a few inches, kept the base of the tent dry.Inside the tent, at the peak of the top, is a clip to attach a light source, very useful. There is also a two pocket compartment inside. We never needed to use it, but it was a pleasent add on. It has also been many years since either of us had purchased a tent, and once we opened it, we saw that the instructions were sewn into the carrying bag. Perfect! They will never get lost! For the overall price, this was a wonderful investment for under [$].We look forward to using it in the future.
Great bang for the buck
Purchased this as a base tent for camping with my 6 year old. A little challenging to assemble with only one person (fiberglass poles are always heavy) but in 10 minutes it was up, with the help of my 6 year old holding a corner. First night we had a light thunderstorm. Some wind & some rain, but no water came in the tent. I was a little worried the wind would collapse the tent because I didn't fully guy out the rain fly (there's three guy points on two sides and I was worried about my son tripping on all that cord). With the more expensive tents there's an horizontal pole component to strengthen the basic 'X' pole design- this tent does not have that. I personally wish the rain fly went farther down on the tent so there would be no need for the extra guy points and I think it would help with the tent being a little drafty. But what do you expect for a tent that costs under $100? This tent is a great value for under $100! With some simple changes Coleman could really go after the big-boy tent companies with this tent.
Good value
I've used this tent 3 times this year.
The test night, we had really heavy blowing, and torrential rain. I noticed a small (1 oz.) amount of water by the front door. The water dripped through the zipper.
Then I seam sealed all of the seams and zipper (note this caused discoloring), and twice applied water proof spray to the entire fly, zipper, corner stitching, the front of the tent, and all of the lower wrap around fabric.
First sleeping night in June: Weather was hot, with a medium rain storm. Dry inside the tent. Ventilation was slightly inadequate.
First multi-day trip in August: no issues with the tent. Weather was dry and warm; ventilation OK.
Second multi-day trip in October: no issues with the tent. Weather was cold (44 degrees) and we had heavy rain storm. Tent was dry inside.
Good tent, good price!
I bought this tent for a Labor Day concert/camping weekend in Wisconsin. PJ20! We saw every kind of weather. Sun, heat, humidity, thunderstorms, wind, cold, damp, etc.... This tent held up very well through all of it. Only once during a "Hurricane Irene-like" downpour did a little bit of water come in through the side vent in the rain fly, but not enough to cause any problems at all. We were one of the few tents that didn't have serious water problems all weekend long. I'd say realistically, this tent comfortably sleeps 3-4 full grown adults, but it could sleep 6 smaller adults or children without much trouble. All in all, a great tent for the money. I was thrilled that it kept us dry during some crazy storms! PJ20 was spectacular!
good tent for the price
Put up this tent for the first time while the sun was setting. Luckily, it was very easy to assemble so we got it up before dark. It is small for 6 people. We had two adults and two kids and were comfortable. When our other son comes, someone is going to have to sleep horizontally at the foot of the tent, which isn't ideal for late night bathroom runs. My only other issue with the tent is that it is quite drafty...definitely not a good tent for cold weather. Our friend's 6 person LL Bean tent was much more spacious and much better protected from the elements, but it also cost at least three times as much. The tent is good for the price.
Nice upgrade
This is my third tent. I've had two Coleman 4 person tents previously. I didn't have any complaints about the other two, but the extra room in this one was really nice. I'm 6'1" and I used to have to stand/lay on my air mattress, or against the tent to change my clothes. With this tent, there was plenty of room to change and even walk around to set-up, clean, and/or store clothing etc.
I went camping on a crisp fall weekend, so I can't speak to rain, heat, or other conditions. It was a bit chilly, but not unbearable, and not surprising considering this isn't meant for the arctic. Nothing some warm clothes and a good sleeping bag couldn't handle.
You got to buy this tent
I used this tent at west v for our church camp and it was a great tent to be in. Everybody noticed how a good tent that is.The room is perfect inside of it. There is really nothing bad about this tent but the only problem i would if you want more air flow buy a more window opener. But overall it is a wonderful and looking forward to use it more and it let you sleep like a baby.
For the Gkids
Purchased after reading reviews. In the first 3 weeks after purchase, this tent has been through 2 rain and wind storms and 2 day's of 4" of snow. NOT ONE LEAK!. I'm pleased with my purchase. The zipper is a little stiff at first where the seam meets, but after a few careful opening and closings, it works fine. Once the guy ropes are in place, the tent stood up to 40mph winds with no problems.
RIGHT AS RAIN
Ok people the Tent is a perfect size , neither too big or too small. Tent packaging and contents arrived in pristine order. During first camp-out it rained heavily no problemo , no water leakage. Good ventilation. Not very heavy either. Nice colors , not the puke green but a nice blue. Would recommend. Shipped fast and good customer follow-up. A class act !
What a great product
Really got a good price on this tent. My son said they had a terrible storm @ Summersville and the tent stood up to all the rain and wind. My grandaughter and grandson stayed in it. Didn't even blow over or leak.
