Columbia Sportswear SmartWool Cuffed Beanie Hat Reviews:

Versatile

Bought one about 5 or 6 years ago. Liked the fact that the material is thin and a little bit stretchy. Pretty warm for how thin it is and the perfect hat to layer underneath a warmer one if necessary. Small enough to pack away anywhere and its long so when pulled all the way down it more than covers your ears. I like beanies but the fact that they don't cover the ears blows every chimp in the primate house.

This hat is not cuffed as shown in the pics-you can cuff it of course but its not permanently cuffed so to speak.

I've recently purchased 2 more from campmor and my 6 year old one is still alive and kicking after many wearings and washings.

My head was warm

I bought this to wear around the yard when playing with the kids or when camping. Took it with me when we went with the scouts camping in the spring and the night time temps were to get in the upper 20's. The hat is a lot thinner than I thought it would be. It fits very well over my ears and snug to my head. It is so light that you can hardly tell you have it on. It was so light and comfortable, I even slept with it on. Had I not had this hat I would have been miserable, but at least my head was warm. Great hat.

More than I was looking for!

I purchased this to wear on the cooler nights of this years adventures when I am tucked in my sleeping bag. Well, it may be wore out by then as I have been wearing it while walking the dog, shoveling snow and any other time my ears need to be covered. My hat size is 7 3/8 and this fit one fits me fine. It is very light and soft to the touch. If it holds up, I will purchase one in another color. So far, so good. Enough said!

Love it

Love this. I wear it all the time. To take the dogs out, in my car when it hasnt quite warmed up, when its snowing. I love that it is so light and yet so warm. It also gets wet when it snows but dries right up. The only complaint is that when I do cuff it it feels kind of tight on my head so I have to wear it uncuffed but aside from that its great.

great hat!

This is probably the 6th cuffed beanie I've bought for my husband over the past few years. Because of the materials, it does stretch out and lose it's elasticity over a couple winters. It sounds silly, but my husband has a small head so most hats are too large on him. This has the perfect fit. We will continue to buy them as long as Smartwool continues to make them.

Best beanie ever

I love this beanie! I bought my first one in the campmor store, and proceeded to buy five or six more, one in every color. They are lightweight and fit in your pocket so you can always have it with you. And they are super warm and comfortable to wear. They are reasonably moisture wicking and breathable. They are also thin enough to wear under a hood or helmet.

great hat!

I use this sweet, lightweight hat when the air is too chilly or a bit windy for bare ears. I really don't like hats very much and this one is great because it is lightweight and warm and can easily fit in my pocket when don't need it. For extreme cold, it may not be warm enough and perhaps could be worn as an under layer.

My new favorite hat!

I originally bought this hat for skiing as I wanted something lightweight and breathable. Now I wear it everyday: to work, walking the dog, etc. It is really warm, breathable and very lightweight. It is perfect for sticking in your pocket if you get too hot and the purple color is very nice. I just bought two more for my husband.

Love my Beanie

I lost my first beanie and was needing to replace it. Campmor had a special and I loved it so much I ordered two. I would recommend this for running but it keeps my head so ward that I almost overheat when running a few miles. Still, I love this for hiking and every day commuting. Highly recommend this product.

Comfortable

I bought this beanie because I have always wanted a smartwool beanie that fits relatively tightly yet comfortably. This item fits perfect under goggles and can fit unter a healmet when an extra layer is needed. Bought it mainly for back country trips, given the material Im sure itll dry relatively quickly, general length also provides good ear cover when necessary.

Negative Reviews:

Truly disappointing, inadequate

I could not expect that a knit hat could be so thin. Comfort and warmth are sacrificed with no benefit.

Neutral Reviews:

Not what I expected

This hat reminds me of a stocking hat. I was looking for a warm, watchcap type of hat. This one isn't. This hat reminds me of what the NFL players wear under their helmets, definitely not made for Michigan winters. If you have a large head (like me) this hat needs to stretch a lot, not very comfortable. I'm sure some people would find these hats just perfect for their needs, it doesn't come close for me.

slowly removes itself

Very nice, comfortable, and warm hat which is warmer than my Mountain Hardware fleece beanie. Being wool, it doesn't have as much of the chilling effect as it dries. It's fatal flaw is that it slowly creeps off of my head, and it has to be put back on once every minute. I'm going back to my fleece or acrylic knit hats which don't have this issue as severely.
