Great Value

Rating:****
I have a deep chested 40# dog and had to order according to his chest size, which made the body length a little long. It does cover his entire back down to his tail, which is good, but I had to cut and sew the coat on his belly so he could urinate without soaking the coat. As it was it covered his wee wee. I think you could get away with just cutting it without sewing and it would hold up if you are not handy with a needle. Or if you have a female dog then there would be no worries. But the material is great and my dog took to it right away and he has never worn a coat before. I like the fact that the coat actually does protect his abdomen from getting soaked. The material around the front legs and neck is stretchy so it allows free movement without chaffing. All in all it's the best product I have seen available for a great price.

Very pleased

Rating:*****
I have very deep chested dogs so I was concerned that getting the coat that fit the chest measurement would result in one that was too short in the back measurement. The length turned out perfectly so I would definitely order by the chest measurement. Both of my dogs took to these coats like they'd been in coats before. NOT! I did find that they are easier to fasten if you do the zip before the neck snaps. I live in a very rainy area and do lots of winter hiking, so these coats will keep us active through the winter. The rain just rolls right off and the dogs no longer try to duck under things to stay dry.

I think this will work really well!

Rating:*****
[...] I have not yet used this dog coat, but I can tell it is going to work well. It is very easy to put on my dog (due to the closing being on the side-back), and it does not get in the way when he has to go to the bathroom. My dog is a Blue Heeler, 35 pounds, about 26 inches around the chest and about 22 inches long, neck to tail. The Large fit, with a little room to spare (but I think the Medium would very likely have been too snug). The coat looks sturdy and well-made, so I am looking forward to ny dog using it when we go cross-country skiing this winter.

WARM AND DRY

Rating:****
I have a 16 pound rat terrier that has a short coat and very little hair covering his chest and stomach. I take him daily to run in the woods in a very cold winter climate in Northwestern Pennsylvania. This jacket should stay on when he's running through deep snow, as well as, keep him warm and dry. I measured carefully and bought a medium. I think a size small and a half would have fit much better, as this jacket seems a tad loose and long. Additionally I had to make adjustments (I sew) in the stomach area, as my dog is a male.

Best dog coat I've ever had!

Rating:*****
I rescued a dumped mutt puppy from the highway last winter. She's the first shorthaired dog I've had in decades. All my Poodles' sweaters slid right off of her. I bought several coats/sweaters and nothing stayed on. This Columbia coat is terrific! It fits beautifully and hasn't slid off yet. Since the weather has become chilly, my pup happily wears her coat 24/7. I liked it so well I bought another. After looking at my dog's Columbia coat my daughter bought two for her big dogs. This really IS the best fitting, most well made coat I've ever had for any of my dogs.

Making my canine a real "hot dog"

Rating:*****
We bought a small and a medium because of the previous reviews. The small was skin tight. The medium is a little big around the underarms, but not enough to be an issue. Our dog is 22 lbs and a mixed-breed, including lab. With our harsh cold and lots of snow, we especially like the full coverage on the bottom of the coat, as well as to the base of the tail. (It just needs a little hood!) :) We got it in the vibrant yellow color and that is also going to be great for visibility on snowy days.

Wonderful Jacket Excellent Buy!

Rating:*****
First, I LOVE these jackets. I bought two for my little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. It is a tailored fit which is great because you want the jacket to hug the body in harsh weather. I own a jacket for myself made from similar material and find it cuts the wind better than any other type of material - I'm sure Louis would agree if he could talk! I haven't washed them yet but they seem to be very well constructed so I'm sure they'll be fine in the wash. Overall, great coats at an excellent price!

Great coat for the money

Rating:*****
I have a Cockapoo that just needed a coat to keep her chest and tummy clean, dry and free from "snowballs". I can melt the snowballs on her legs in the sink without her whole body getting wet greatly improving dry time. The fit is really good and is snug, doesn't twist or move. The side zipper makes it easy on and off. Love the fabric, it is just like soft shell jackets for people. My dog doesn't mind the fit at all and knows the jacket means outdoor time. A great look for Montana.

My crew love 'em!!

Rating:*****
We have dogs ranging from 50 thru 95 lbs, slender to deep-chested builds, and wanted coats to fit them when we're out on hikes, as well as when they need to be left outside when we're at work. These are great- the dogs accepted them and seem very comfortable. The waterproof/breathable combination is a winner. They're fairly easy to put on (C'mon- what dog LIKES to dress up?!)-you might have to fuss a little to get the size right, (seem to run a bit small- measure your dog!) but well worth it!

Great!

Rating:*****
We have a Boxer with less than heavy fur to keep him warm and we live in Montana. Winters are harsh. This coat not only fits him perfectly, it keeps him dry in snow and rain and he likes it; not to mention he looks pretty snappy in it too. I have even been asked if I had the coat custom made for him. It is easy to put on and the all elastic panel at the chest area gives him flexibility around his chest and neck. Great buy.

Dog Jacket

Rating:***
Jacket is nice quality. However doesn't fit any of my bulldogs. Tried the XX large- WAY to long and big, X large- doesn't fit. Returned and ordered large- still didn't work. SO because it is such nice product, will have to remodel and resew up one of the XX large that I didn't return to make it fit one of the bulldogs. Price was exceptional- wished they fit alittle closer- but am sure coats are hard to fit dogs.

Too snug and not adjustable

Rating:***
Nice softshell but not very insulating with just a thin fleecy inner lining. I got a size within an inch of my dog's dimensions but the coat was too snug and there are no means of adjusting the size.

Columbia dog coat

Rating:***
The craftmanship is well made. Easy on fits a little loose. One size down fit to tight. Should be a little longer from neck to tail. But my puppy is growning and may grown into it nicely.

Cute but chafes

Rating:***
We got this coat to take our coonhound trail running in the mountains during harsh weather. Love the looks of this coat, but the front leg openings chafed her legs badly when running.
