I bought 2 last winter and they worked great. Now this isn't the warmest in cold weather, less than 35, but its not supposed to be so I would suggest it for 40s and up with moderate activity level. The fleece is light and comfortable and as it says in the item description "feels soft, breathes, and dries quickly" it does all those things, especially breathing part. Hiking in the forest with trees to break the wind it works fine by keeping you cool and it dries fast. However above tree line and out in the open higher winds will go straight through it, once again making it breathable. Its a good jacket for late fall/early winter and late winter/early spring. Being hot natured I wear it through the winter just fine as long as its above freezing . Overall I love the jacket, and plan on getting another. Also I did notice it had a very slight athletic shape to it but it still fits true to size.
I bought this mainly for use under my North Face Bansko jacket, but it's come in handy on warmer fall days all by itself.
This is a good quality product without the price tag of a Patagonia or North Face. Not to say the same tech went into the Columbia but it's a solid jacket.
The thing I love most about this jacket is the sleeve length. I often feel short-sleeved (I'm 6'2" and quite long-limbed) but the Steens provides ample room in the arms and across the shoulders.
I also like the cuffs. They are sort of a short rolled cuff instead of a long cuff. (I've included a picture)
Overall it's a great entry level fleece for all-around cool weather use.
The weight of this fleece makes it perfect for those 40-55 degree fall days, where a full down jacket is too much, but a sweatshirt just doesn't cut it. The drawcord on the hem is very handy and all the zippers and seams exhibit attributes of high quality material. Ordered in Dark Moss/Surplus Green. The dark moss is more of a charcoal color than a green. Overall great jacket for the money and one I plan on having in the closet for a long time.
I purchased this product for wearing around the house this fall and winter. I keep the inside temperature at about 60?F. This product works very well for this purpose--it is cool in the house and I'm not moving around much.
I purchased a size that is a touch too small and I can't quite zip it closed. But that was my error and it still works well to keep me quite warm. My next purchase of this product would be one size larger.
My daughter had been wearing my Columbia fleece jackets, so I bought her one for herself. She wanted a men's small and is quite happy with it.
Columbia fleece jackets are a very good value, but don't have any extra features.
The jacket runs just a bit small and is tight on the arms. In my opinion, this is not a 'jacket.' It is a light fleece that may be used in the spring or for around the house.
