Sooooo Comfortable !!!

This is the cutest closed shoe I have seen in a long time that looks great on a long foot. I wear a 10 ususlly but a size 9.5 fit fine. Probably could even wear a size 9. Run about 1/2 size larger. Width is good. I have a long foot that has gotten wider since I moved to Hawaii 20 years ago, so I am inbetween a medium/wide width and these fit wonderfully. Water resistant too. Wore them in a torrential rain storme and they look the same as when they came out of the box. I am a teacher and these are great for walking and standing on my feet all day. Great cushioning inside shoe. Sole grips nicely in wet weather. First time I have worn "closed" shoes in years and these fit like pillows on my feet. I got the brown color and plan to buy the black as well.

work shoe? walking shoe? Both.

Several manufacturers have mary janes with sporty styling and athletic-shoe construction, but Columbia has nearly perfected it. very lightweight, the Damselfly is springy, balanced, and stable, with a comfortably wide fit and a contoured cushion-y insole. the strap is at a fashionable angle across the foot, yet actually rests comfortably on the instep and holds the shoe on perfectly well. The scoop-out on top is just a tad bit revealing, tho, and that's my only (mild) complaint. I prefer for my shoes to cover my toes, and the hints of toe-cleavage that peak out are not quite what I wanted.
Finally, these are one pair of sporty shoes that I did not have to treat with black markers to cover up all the flash, logos and advertising that normally comes with athletic type shoes. Thank you Columbia for making something I can wear to the office in great comfort. Overall, very good buy.

Snug and comfy

The first pair I received had two shoes that were different lengths, though they were both marked sz 8.

Second pair fits well and looks great! Despite being slip ons, they fit snugly and don't slop around on the heel. The strap isn't adjustable, which was a bit surprising, but it's attached with a stretchy bit that makes them easy to get on and off. The areas around the ankles rub a bit against the shoes, but wearing thick socks for a few wears toughen the areas up well. The sole is very stable and nonslip, and the insides and insoles are very well cushioned and fit my high-arched feet comfortably.

They're very attractive and I love the versatility of the look.

Comfortable and Stylish

I've been looking for a comfortable, yet stylish pair of Mary Jane style black shoes and I have found them. The footbed has great arch support and some cushioning so these will be good for walking the distance in addition to looking good! The description suggests ordering a half size smaller than normal and so I did but should have just ordered my regular size. The size I ordered fits OK and I'll keep them, but a half size larger would give me a little more wiggle room for my toes, which I like to have! but these will work for me.

Comfy shoes!

Very comfy shoe for my wide foot. The suggestion was correct to order down 1/2 size. As others said, the heel is too wide, so it slips. After wearing for a while, either I don't notice it as much, or the shoe has softened and it doesn't slip as much. Works better with socks than without. I'm going to purchase the cushion inserts to place inside the heel. I am not sorry I bought these shoes and would buy them again. Great shoe!

Cute and Comfortable

I bought these for summer time to switch up my sandals. I thought they would be cute with shorts or capris. They really are cute. I bought them in white. Of course they will get dirty but for the price I didn't care. They are for the summer and to kick around. Casual.

The heel does need a little breaking in but I am not used to wearing any backs as I wear cloggs all the time. Love them though!

Cute, comfy, but a full size larger

I said it all in the review headline, but I want to add that a break in period of a day or two may be required depending on your feet. The back of my heels were rubbing in against the shoes, but after a couple of days, it went away. My shoes fit me a glove after I ordered a full size smaller than my normal size (I wear a size 7, but I ordered a 6).

Can't wait to use them after snow season

I just got these, having followed the advice to purchase a half size smaller than I use normally. They seem very comfortable, and I can't wait to use them after snow season. I have wide feet and these are wide enough for me. They cushion the foot well. They do rise up a wee bit at the heel when I walk in them, but I am thinking (hoping) that will change when I break them in.

I LOVE THESE SHOES!!

There is a glut of these type of sporty mary jane shoes out there, but when I got these (white) I was so happy! They are definitely sporty, but still cute too. They are extremely comfortable. If you are on a size borderline and you are able, order 1/2 size down - They are slightly big; but nothing major. I love Columbia gear and these shoes have totally lived up to my expectations.

Great comfort and looks.

These shoes are great if you want to be super comfortable while doing lots of casual walking, such as sight seeing whilst on holidays (which is the reason I bought them).
I took the advice of the product description, and bought 1/2 size smaller than usual, and they fit great. There is lots of room for my orthotics too, but the insole the shoes come with have considerable arch support anyway.

great shoe but..ankles rub

Loved these shoes, but after wearing them 15 minutes inside, raw spots on both ankles and one heel. The ankle parts hit the underside of both ankles- not likely to improve with wear. :( Too bad, because these were super comfortable otherwise, sticky soles, cushy - could have used a little more ankle support - might raise the foot level to where the sides don't rub. I did order these in 11, my size, even though most say to order 1/2 size down - 10 1/2 not available.

Ouch!

These look great - I got lots of compliments, but the top of the vamp(?) fell right on my outer ankle bone and rubbed. I ended up with a little bruising/tenderness after only one wearing - so they've been returned, since I didn't think this was a problem that would improve with wear.

disappointing

I ordered these shoes because they were cute and looked comfortable. I initially ordered a size 7.5; these were too big. I went down to a size 7 and these were too small. The sizing appears off. This was really disappointing.

impossible sizing

This show flops off my heel but is too short and hurts my toes. I tried 3 sizes and none fit right. Just a bod shoe!

Too large

Hard to evaluate as I ordered a half size smaller as suggested, but this was also too large and too wide.

love the shoe but they don't love me

luuuuved these but they rubbed under the ankle bones, both feet, and behind the heel - the bottom part just comes up too high for my feet. Broke my heart, 'cause they're totally cute and otherwise very comfortable. I even broke open the return box and tried them on just one more time - nope, red marks within 5 minutes, too snug to pad with socks. I put in a little more arch support (which it needed) - nope, raised the foot TOO high. I ordered the size 11 - it's possible the smaller sizes are built to fit feet better.

Good shoes

These are cute casual shoes - - a little sporty looking. They seem comfortable. When I first tried them on, I thought they would give me heel blisters, but they haven't. I wish there was a little more coverage in the toe area, because I think it looks weird to see just the base of a toe. But, that's pretty nit-picky. Overall, these are good.

Just what I wanted but didn't fit right

I was looking for durable casual shoes with a little style that could go on walks/light hikes around town. These look perfect and seem to be the right size but won't stay on my heel so I'll have to return. I don't think I have a particularly narrow foot so this shoe may be better for those with a wide heel.

basic black urban mary jane

I purchased these shoes to wear during my commute to and from work. They are sturdy with good support, fit well, and look decent with work clothes versus wearing work out shoes. They meet these needs but nothing especially notable about the style.

cute, but...

These shoes look best worn without socks, but they don't breathe well. When feet become even slightly damp they rub raw on the shoes. Not fun!

Irregular fit

Shoes felt too long and heel cup too wide, causing slippage. Felt like would probably rub blisters, returned to STP.
