Columbia Fleece Jacket
| Rating: | ![]() |
I bought not one, but five of these jackets for the men in my life at Christmas. My boyfriend has had one for ages, and he had asked for a newer on in a darker color. Though the Columbia Steens Mtn Full Zip jacket is not heavy, it is great to have on hand for short trips into the cold, and for moderately cold winter weather in general. We live in S.C., where it doesn't get too close to 32 degrees on a regular basis, and this jacket is perfect for our weather. It does not have a hood, as asked in an earlier review, but it does have two side pockets, and the fleece is quite plush and soft. The older version of the jacket my boyfriend owns has stayed in great shape over the past two years he's had it. Additionally, I would recommend this jacket to anyone wanting to use it for extra warmth during the spring and fall. I suspect it makes a great shell and a great liner for ski jackets. It's a great value if you buy it so inexpensively from Backcountry.

Hey, just wanted to say that Backcountry is awesome! Super fast shipping! Great prices! Great quality! I bought the Columbia Steens fleece zip-up for my brother for Chrsitmas. He takes a tall size which is hard to find. I had never purchased Columbia gear before and was thrilled to see they offer tall sizes. When it came in the mail I immediately held it up to some of my husband's tall shirts and stuff to get a look at the length. Honestly, it was shorter than most other brands of tall-sized clothing, but at the same time it was indeed longer than regular length clothing, but all in all definitely good bang for the buck!

Just what I needed | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I'm a Critical Care Registered Nurse and I needed a jacket that was light enough for the extremely MILD Florida winters yet comfortable enough to wear while doing chest compressions for 30 minutes and "professional" appearing enough to wear all night while at work in front of families and patients. This jacket was perfect. 5 of us ordered together and every one of us is extremely satisfied with our purchase. The jacket is mature enough to wear at the patients bedside and doesn't get in the way when work gets busy. The BLACK color is slightly DULL compared to the HEATHER color, but our hospital requires is all black (or white). Love the jacket!!

Nice jacket, very comfortable
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This is probably the most comfortable fleece jacket I have worn. I'm 6'1", 185 lbs., and the large fits me perfectly (I normally wear large, but some larges these days seem more like XL's). The quality is good; although, as others have mentioned, the logo is visible on the inside chest when open. The zipper works particularly well, and should prove to be durable. The jacket is lightweight, so it's probably best suited for cool weather, as opposed to cold. Overall, I'm satisfied with the jacket, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, affordable lightweight fleece. | |

High desert delight | |

| Great weight for cool nights and brisk mornings from fall through early spring in the high desert. Comfortable, good looking, and attractive price. Most Columbia men's apparel is long enough for him in standard sizes; he otherwise requires large tall. This jacket is a tad short in the body, but sleeves are fine. The backing for the logo stitching is exposed and unattractive when the front falls open. Bought a second one for him and another for me in spite of these drawbacks. | |

Great Jacket | |

My husband has broad shoulders so he wears a size large or x-large even though he is not very tall so most jackets can fit him more like a dress than a jacket. This fleece has plenty of room in a large and was just the right length! Very please, great quality, warm, comfortable and the lovely Papaya color is unique without being too loud He almost lost it while in Alaska and we were prepared to come home and buy another.

Very Versatile Jacket | |

| I purchased this jacket just before doing a photo shoot in the northwest. The weather was cold, windy, and light rain, but I was comfortable outdoors as well as indoors. The jacket doesn't wrinkle, so it looked just as nice coming out of the scrunched-up overhead baggage compartment as it does off the hanger. The zip-up pockets are also great to secure personal items while on the move, and large enough to warm your hands when needed. | |

| I really needed a fleece to layer under my North Face jacket. I didn't want to spend so much on a North Face Fleece cause they are pretty darn expensive. This is really warm. I wore this without my north face jacket today and walked outside to do some errands and this kept me warm. I live in Chicago where it can get down to -14 degrees. I recommend this to everyone! =) | |

I purchased this jacket for my mother at Christmas as the original one I had ordered (from a different company) was not what I expected. This jacket got to me within a few days and I still had it in time for Christmas. My mother loves the jacket and the colour of it, she says it is so soft and comfortable. Thank you so much for your great help and service.

What I expected | |

It did fine for me in the Snowies in Wyoming. I just used it and a base layer at night and the early morning. I suspect that some of the viewing audience will need something warmer. [I only wear a hoodie when I sit in the woods and hunt in the winter in Michigan.] But it was a good basic fleece for a good price.

decent, but go for something else
| Rating: | ![]() |
| It's a good fleece, but it does nothing to block the wind. I've worn this on mildly windy days and have been left freezing. Also it is not water resistant so it's not that good for rainy weather. It does keep you warm, but only if its around 40 degrees and above with NO wind. Like I said, one blast of wind and you're done. It's a good price so you can't ask for much and it holds up well after washes. The fit is bulky and big, so order medium or small...only get bigger size if you have longer arms...polyester doesn't shrink so don't worry about that. | |

LACKS WINDPROOFING | |

I was trying to buy one of these simular to the one made by Polartec but not as expensive, this isn't it. This is good for temps above 30F, anything lower or if the wind is blowing, I have to wear a shell over it. If somebody knows of a water/wind proof fleece, please info, thanks.

Nice for around town use.
| Rating: | ![]() |
Super soft, and comfy fleece. Looks pretty good too. Got it as a gift and fell in love with it. However wasn't quite warm or versatile enough to make the backcountry kit. Casual cut not great for active pursuits. Leaked like a sieve with any sort of breeze. Pockets are situated low for casual use but mostly inaccesible with backpack on. If your looking for an affordable comfortable fleece for casual use, look no further. For serious hiking, backpacking, climbing you'll probably want to go a little higher end.

Be wary of size | |

I bought this jacket for my son for christmas. He loves the jacket but for a 3XL tall is is very short. I wanted to send it back but he had already worn it. Mayby the length should be listed when buying the garment as this is obviously shorter than other tall garments I have purchased.

Great Fleece Jacket | |

Very comfy. I got the tall size but it fits like a regular length jacket. Other than I like it. Good quality for the price. I do wear it as often as I would like because of the length, but I will wear it to work in the yard or take the dog for a walk.

A basic fleece | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
This is a basic fleece for a reasonable price. It does not have any fancy features--just the basics like two packets and a drawstring bottom. Personally, I think that calling them a jacket is a bit of a stretch. To me, these have always been a midlayer.

| The jacket was okay, it was thinner then I had hope for, but overall it's a good jacket to have for the spring or fall. | |
