Love it! Cute, practical and very cozy

I wear this skirt anytime my midsection is cold....around the house, out on an errand, dinner with the family, dinner with just my husband. I have fibromyalgia and I am nearly always cold. So rather than bring something to sit on or an extra sweater, now I can just wear my down skirt. Usually I wear it with leggings. I ordered my normal size, medium. With the normal size, I can not fit some of my pants under it. So if you may consider ordering the next size up if you like it to slide lower on your torso and also wear extra layers underneath. Also it easily wipes clean when something is spilled on it. It is very thin and lightweight. When I first put it on I thought that it would not keep me warm. But it is awesome. When I put it on, I feel a wave of warmth come over me. So I would recommend it to anyone that is often cold or if you want to wear a short jacket and still need to be warm. It is a great addition to my wardrobe. I own the non-down version also and it is awesome too!

FUN winter skirt!

I love to wear skirts - have many great summer skirts I have bought from REI. Recently bought a REI down jacket and was wanting to purchase more down clothing. Delighted to find REI sells down skirts! It is a fun skirt to wear with leggings -- the skirt material is slick and easily goes over what you want to wear underneath. I also bought the other Cordillera insulated skirt and I am delighted to have some "real" winter skirts in my wardrobe. The insulated skirt is longer and goes just above the knees on me and is very slimming. The short winter down skirt is a little on the short side being only 15.5 inches in length -- so if you don't want a short skirt I wouldn't advise it -- it might be too short for you. My boyfriend likes the length though!I got it on the deal for day at [$]. great DEAL!

Stylish, light, and warm!

Wanted an easy warm skirt to layer over for winter and for traveling to Chile in the spring (our fall) and had my eye on this for a while. I love that it's down feather keeping it light and compressible and packable. In harsh NYC winters I would prefer to wear skirts with layers because it would offer more freedom to move around and keep cool, this seems like the perfect solution and I'm happy with it so far!
The only con is that the waist is a little high/smaller and does not expand, so the pants/leggings/tights underneath will be limited.

Most people think down/insulated mini skirts are dumb/impractical, but don't beat it until you try it! You'll be surprised how warm and versatile it will be!

light but warm

I would wear this over leggings or tight jeans/pants. People kept asking me wear I got mine. I got a size small which fits fine. I normally wear a 4-6 women's size. Length is also perfect for me. I'm 5'4" & weigh about 115 lbs. I don't find that the waist is too high or small at all. The medium size was just too big/long.

Negative Reviews:

Cute, yes. Practical, no.

I like to wear fleece or down skirts over XC or running tights in the winter. This skirt was cute on, with a narrow waist and A-line fit. However, the skirt was way too short to actually be warm. Part of the problem was the bottom of the skirt is cut very roomy (not as slim cut as pictured). Between the short length and the wide cut, it gets pretty breezy up there. I'd say feel more equivelent to about 400 wieght down and most of warmth is concentrated in upper few inches. So, if your interested in this skirt for either active movement, or for down warmth, this is NOT the skirt. If your interested in it for style, maybe so. Without trying it, I think the other Cordillera skirt REI sells is probably the better choice.
