Great for the price, but...
This is my first crossbow, and in all honesty I have more fun shooting it than any of my other firearms. I plan on using it to hunt small game, and birds and have no doubt that it will get the job done. If you are looking to get into crossbows this is a great buy. It does not lack power and feels great to shoot and is built really well. The down side, the bow is a remodel of the Jaguar crossbow, which is a chines made bow that is pretty generic and several other companies use the jaguar parts slap their name on it. The center-point bow has a much nicer stock and a much better red dot scope. If you buy a similar crossbow you will get a rope cocker (nice but not required) and a shoulder strap. The down side this bow does not have Iron sights, and when in the blocks will hit within an inch of your sighted target only 80 percent of the time and the stray bolts could be up to 7 inches off target. (This is usually due to bent bolts so if you can avoid aluminum) I got this bow for a good price but similar bows can be found for around $160-$200. So over all I love this crossbow, but can't wait to buy a nicer one in a few years. I would suggest this product to any marksmen and it you can't afford the high end this one will get the job done.
Great Value for Money
I bought the Jaguar for target and game, I didn't expect it be as good as first thought and found it was better. After assembly I ran to me local Dicks store and bought a Target to sight in my scope. The Bolts did not stand up to expectations but I was pleased to have the bolts replaced...after hitting a few targets the tips would be lost or have to be reinstalled into the bolt. Reinforcing the bolt tips (glue/epoxy) solved the probs. The sight works well at the range and I look forward to use it on game.I would recomend the Jaguar Crossbow to any one from hobbiests too hunters.
Better than expected
These were on clearance and I used a coupon code to get two of these at [$] each. I figured at that price, even if they were not very good, my son and I would have fun with them at the range.I am impressed. We set them up and sighted them in within minutes. By the time we left, we lost a couple bolts but my son (11yrs old) was hitting a deer target at 40yds.We are going to use these over the Spring and Summer in hopes of getting a chance at a deer during archery season.
Inexpensive, lightweight,
I expect to be using the crossbow for deer season this fall. I managed to acquire this crossbow for under a $100 with a coupon I had for Dicks.
I have to say I am not that mechanically inclined and still managed to get it together without hurt myself or others. Wasn't impressed with the 3 dot scope have replaced it with another with Recetile's instead of dots. I still have some trouble cocking due to shoulder injury.
Winning
I'll be using this during firearm season in NH (just need a $5 permit). Ok, the instructions are not great - but putting this together isn't rocket science. Everyone that sees my cross bow loves it - and can't believe how affordable it was. Scope is pretty cool as well - battery powered 3 dot. Great first cross bow. Winning. Rhymes with winning - anyone?
lightweight, accurate ,uncomplicated
bought last year, assembly instructions were lousy, contacted company and used website instructions. bought better bolts, killed first deer i shot at with a double lung pass thru shot at 20 yards. after hunting for years with complicated.heavy compounds and x=bows this is like a breath of fresh air. incrediblly accurate, small, lightwheigt, easy to load. giving this one to wife and getting another for me!
Great Product for the price
Was easy to put together with some extra help when stringing. It shoots very well at 40 yards. This cross bow will get the job done while deer hunting. The three bolts that come with the cross bow are not very strong. Overall a great product for the money.
I would highly recommend
I bought it just before the hunting season 2010 It was a little difficult to assemble instructions a little hard to follow but once together took three shots to get dead on. Have killed two deer so far with it one doe one 8 point.
I like it a lot.
I revieved my order super quick and it assembled fairly easy.I had my 10 yard zero within six shots, so I was very satisfied with the accuracy. I haven't shot past 20 yds with it but I expect it to do very well.
i would buy again
for the price its great. we put it together and shot it immediately. shot great and hard. had to put multiple targets to keep from robinhoodin my arrows.
